View Full Version : Fox Sports World Fun

I'm surprised no one has started this type of thread then again I may have missed. Ok, we call agree that Fox Sports World rocks with it's soccer coverage but they still gott get dissed (Not an English Major).
I mean for example what's up with the ads?
If I see another Ener-X commercial. Look at the woman. "..but now it's every day", I mean look at this woman.
Notice the ads for La Liga and how they talk about Barca and Real? When have they shown a match with either team? Never and they won't due to both teams having their own contractual agreements regarding distribution.
Max Bretos?? He's a Catch 22. He knows his footy, he really does but his play by play / color commentary is horrid. Listening to him and the "English" dude who's a so-called expert reminds me of "Wayne's World"
FSW Report
What's up with that Chick's glasses? She reminds me of a Space Alien.
Can someone tell them that the French First Division is now called "Ligue 1"? It has been since last summer.
The ad for the Germna Bundesliga goes along the lines of the "..most engineered players..." Are people watching this league? This might be the second best league in the world behind
"Calcio Serie A" and tied with "La Liga" and despite the fact they have no representative in the Champion's League at the moment.
Man, I could go on and if you know me, I will but what are your disses?
Share them and this thread is truly in the name of fun.
Remember the ad from last season with the little Kids for the Religious book
"...Shine Jesus Shine.."
It's scary when you're in a pub @ 8AM watching a match and you see this ad and that's before the first pint

ESPN just chooses not to show them. It amounts to the same thing though, just adding in you'll likely never/hardly see Valencia or Deportivo too.
They will, however, be on ESPN Deportes starting this fall, apparently. And GolTV is showing every Madrid match on a day delay.

Does anybody know if GolTV is going to be available on DirectTV dishes anytime in the future?

Your post really made me laugh...
I sometimes think that if you walked up to a Soccer TV watching junky who gets their fix from Fox Sports World and said the word Ener-X they would immediately run to the bathroom or fridge because that commercial is the lead in into every halftime break.
The women in the testimonials always make me feel real bad for the men sitting next to them.
Yeah Stamina that's what you can call it.
Oh well I guess I can deal with a really bad commercial as long as I still get FSW piped to me as I probably would go through withdrawals without it

I guess Leverkusen and Dortmund don't count as CL participants? I know their form sucks at the moment, but technically, they're still in the tournament.

Hey, I dig the chick with glasses! She's got "specs appeal"!
But not as much as the "hotties" on Sky Sports news, particularly the Dalglish girl.

My bad on that. No disrespect meant to either club just skipped my mind completely.

Now the Pasta Thing commercial. No way in hell any half normal person loses that much pasta when they're draining it. I mean whatever happened to a Collander?
The guy who's probably the info-mercial King @ the moment, Billy what's his name. Aside from the fact there's an actual grown man named Billy, Why does he scream during this commerical? It's not like we don't have volume control and can't hear him.
Okay, apologies to the Brits but a dental floss ad with a Brit as a spokesperson? I'm thinking classic Simposon's episode. All I gotta say on this one.
Man, that woman's glasses still creep me out. She's alright except for the glasses. The guy whome she co-host the show is just horrid and I won't even talk about the Scottish guy. He seems to be the only one with a clue on the show, I'll give him that but....
well more to come and thank goodness we watch them for the football they show even if you've got to blare the stereo when Bretos is calling a game or just happens to appear on any telecast they have.

I think the Fox Sports Report originates in Canada. They have an awful lot of references to attractions coming up on Fox Sports Canada. They also tend to focus on news regarding Canadian teams more than would be normal on a US based report program.
The announcers are terrible. I can't watch it for more than 5 minutes without snoozing off.
It irks me that I have to listen to these jokers rather than be able to tune in Sky Sports News. the only presentation of Sky Sports News is at 6 PM each evening. They have lots of sound bites of highlights and post game comments. Kelly Daglish (daughter of former Premier League great and Scotsman Kenny Daglish) is a great reason to watch.

Actually it is a Canadian Production, well at least the trademark/registration or whatever it is that appears at the bottom of the screen at the end of the show is called states.
They used to replay the same Sky News blurb 2 times each day (midnight then 6 AM). Lately they've shown the FSW @ midnight.
Okay, let's get back to the commercials. I know I missed a few that are classically funny and bad.

On the Fox World Report, that Machado "Wolfman" kid really needs to learn his team names. He's awful with pronunciations of teams from Germany and Spain - how did he get that job?

The Iron Maiden boxed set commercial that ran for a while was amusing...but I do know the guys in that band are huge footy fans and religiously follow West Ham United.
By the way that annoying guy who yells in the commercials is Billy May.

"My husband says I'm a good person."
i mean C'MMMMMONNNN. that is so scary. i know you all know what i'm talking about too.
even worst is that create-a-wannabe-water-fountain commercial. and don't get me started on that fat guy who barrades you about fixing dents in your car.
the commercials on fox sports drive me nuts. PLUS they're all turned up so loud. so when you are already watching a match at top volume to listen to all the chants -- you have to listen to the fat guy scream at you.
besides all the non-soccer stuff that FSW shows, the commercials are the only other things that i'm going to complain about.
but you know what...i don't care...i'm thankful to have it! :)

Fonsos, Roarksown1, and Banbaseball...thanks for making me laugh so hard I nearly pissed myself. That doctor! Oh my god, what can you say. He talks like he's getting nervously aroused thw whole time. And what's with that moustache? I bet he just grew it for that commercial so no one would recognize him. He's trying to be the white Cheech Marin.

i love iron maiden, so i'd always unmute it for that one. sweet times.
my dad has FSW and i dont, so i have him tape games for me pretty often, and he's always making fun of the commercials. my favorite is the make your own fake rock waterfall one - the college is the best "the number one school in the industry".
everything else i wanted to say has already been said - i dont mind the commercials as long as i get my footie.
anyone know if FSW still shows gaelic football? or hurling, or whatever it's called?

They showed a weekly highlight show last summer. Match of the week format like the old EPL show on fox regional networks. Had Guinness commercials as I recall. For some reason was always paired with the weekly replay of the Old Firm Derby.
