Is there anything you like about Asamoah Wotan? :D
Loaded question. Yea--

I like his "energy". Problem is- the WM is not a "marathon run".

I like his "strength"-problem is--WM is not a weight lifting championship

I like the way he "tears up opponents". WM is not a wrestling match.

What i don't like----his "striker" skills as a soccer player. Whatever he is--he is NOT.....a world class..."striker" who should be on the National Team of a perennial Soccer power! Do i make myself clear? I don't care if he's Green, Black, White, Purple, or Yellow----I want a "striker" who can.......SCORE GOALS! :)

Which is one of the things this German NT is lacking!!!!! A true fighter. Someone who is not afraid to take on a player. A player whos effectiveness is not judged on how many goals or assists he scores, but by the havoc he creates in defenses.

Sure he was bad against the US, but he was misused. Three forward set? Podolski and Klose were isolated islands at times.

Throw him into a tie or losing game in the WM, and you will see his use. I
don't see him as a liability to the squad, but actually a great benefit.

I tell you what. Let's kick out Assamoah and convince Bastuerk to play for Germany instead of Turkey! He hold's two passports I believe and the way he has been playing for Hertha lately he'd be a 20 times more effective offensive player than Assamoah will ever be. ;)

So I guess Arjen Robben and my favoritest player of all time Michael Preetz are pieces of shit ey?

Last time I checked, Jan Koller and Jaap Stam were pretty decent players.

I like the way he "tears up opponents". WM is not a wrestling match.
Arjen Robben tears up opponents in a different way. So does Jan Koller. Asamoah can do both!

You don't really see the National Team often do you? When was the last time we were a "perennial Soccer power?? [/quote]

Okay, but who?

Kiessling...maybe later, but not now
Brdaric...he sucks!
Thurk?...not exactly a striker
Auer...pffft he can ******** off
Lauth?....yea he can suck it too.

I'll envoke what somebody said after the Confederations Cup:

I think you may have seen Klinsmann's last look at Asamoah. The only ways I can see Klinsi naming Asamoah to the World Cup squad is if Asamoah "tears it up" for Schalke during the BL season and if Klinsi takes him for an "attitude jolt" off the bench.

Asamoah may not be overly talented, but he works his f#cking ass off.......

I forget who said it, but someone said last week that Asamoah "plays like a German".

That, he does.......

And yet....Asamoah is still on this team....

Ok...what position does Basturk play...OM

Ok...what position does Asamoah play?...RM and ST.

Hmmm...maybe if you said Smolarek everything would be better.

Thanks.

While we're at it, lets nominate Alessandro Nesta, Jaap Stam. I hear we need defenders. Maybe throw in Shevchenko too.

Thanks.

Face it folks...Asamoah isn't that great, but who do we replace him with...look at above and if you select any of those guys ahead of Asamoah, I would say you're insane.

Thanks.

Yeah,o.k... on paper he is.....did you actually SEE him during the last few games and where you could find him the most? Up front with Marcelinho and Pantelic. OM?
Well, a VERY BIG O, and very small m.

Plus Bastuerk is versatile and for sure fast enough that you could put him pretty much anywhere.

Smollarek? What does he have to do with anything? He doesn't hold a German passport...

Well, taking your own criteria from a previous post and I quote...

"Which is one of the things this German NT is lacking!!!!! A true fighter. Someone who is not afraid to take on a player. A player whos effectiveness is not judged on how many goals or assists he scores, but by the havoc he creates in defenses."

I think Huth will be the perfect replacement! He can do all of the above and maybe even score a header or two ;)

Similarly, I don't get why Basturk is in this conversation? What does he have to do with Asamoah. Basturk is about 20 cms and 15 kgs smaller than Asamoah, has already been capped for Turkey and never plays striker. I am more confused to be honest.

Basturk does play OM...Marcelinho plays in front of him as a supporting striker and Pantelic is the out-and-out striker. He is an OM...most OMs have BIG Os and small Ms...Aimar and Riquelme last time I checked had BIG Os and small Ms, but do you call them anything different than OMs?

Thats why I used Smolarek; he can play Forward positions and the Right Wing, like Asamoah.

Yea, except Huth is an idiot; Asamoah has already played several years, he's more experienced. Huth is also slow as the dickens; Asamoah has more pace than even Klose and definitely Kuranyi, which is a definite plus for a forward.

If this is about the whole BVB-Schalke thing, Zwanzigoetzel (and I don't think it is), take off your glasses and try to look at it objectively. I don't like Schalke either, but I see how some of their players have uses that will contribute well to the German NT. Not that I think that they are playing for the right club. :D

Okay...I'm saying Basturk plays OFFENSIVE MIDFIELD

Asamoah does NOT PLAY OFFENSIVE MIDFIELD. He plays RIGHT WING and STRIKER...Basturk does not play these positions.

And OFFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS are expected to play offensive positions, yes. But their position and attitude is much different than those who play STRIKER AND RIGHT WING. If you asked Basturk to play these positions, he would be completely wasted and useless.

Not that I wouldn't mind having Basturk on the German NT anyways, he is a quality player as you say.
