Seems like we haven't heard much in the last 2 weeks. I'm not sure if its a good thing or bad thing though. I'm feeling that after they made the big splash with the announcement they've decided to try to be a bit more low-key about the rest. Would be nice if they get it done quickly, but I'm not holding my breath.

There are things going on, but besides making an announcement and meeting with potential developers, what else can we really expect in the form of news? You can't ge blood from a turnip.
The local sports writers have written about as much as they can on a potential stadium, potential investors and a potential team.

However, Rowan's has placed on the web their RFP or "call for developers" for the Soccer stadium area.
It has dates of interest for us:

-Identify the master Developer by April 26

-Complete agreement done by June 30

Read more here:
http://www.rowan.edu/pdf/rowan_westcampus_rfp.pdf

So by June 30, we could have a definite plan in place for the stadium.

Looks promising.

I mean, they could take the MetroStars approach and keep promising things that never happen.

Or they could announce dates when stuff will happen, and not say stuff just for the sake of staying stuff before those dates occur.

Rowan is taking the latter approach apparently, and that makes perfect sense to me.

So we should hear something next around the end of April.

Anyhooo, There isn't going to be much in way of announcements right now...What needed to be said was said. It's only a matter of time now...

I think it would be best to avoid the whole "60-90 days" announcement expectancy thing in this situation.

Well actually, they are "supposed" to decide on the master developer next week.
It remains to be seen if it they actually announce it though.
But Rowan seems pretty good at getting the word out once something actually happens.

(PS I found it a little humorous that Rowan was upset that the MLS stadium story leaked 4 days before they held their press conference. Usually we know a month ahead of time).

If it is delayed, it might be because they have multiple worthy parties and it's difficult to choose the best. Sometimes you shouldn't rush something like this.

While it's nice that it's good press, it reads like a summary of SoccerPrime's recent posts.

So, any bets on whether the developer will be announced today? Hopefully with concept drawings, etc.?

The developer is supposed to be named today during the Board of Trustees meeting today. Unknown if any artwork will be made publicly available.
If it is, we'll post it!

Nothing on the Rowan U news page this morning...any word from the insiders?

Sorry, there are so many threads on BS for this I keep forgetting to post everywhere. ;)

Anyway, one of my sources says that the Master developer was designated yesterday but Rowan won't publicly announce the company's name until Monday.

We do know its at least one of the following companies:
Opus East of Plymouth Landing, PA
Milestone Finiancial of NYC
Fairmount Properties of Cleveland, OH

Actually, check the other threads. It's Millstone, and there's the (looking remote) possibility of the team starting in 2007 somewhere in Philadelphia proper before moving to Rowan in 2009.

yyyyyeah, we know. It's news about that that has been quiet lately.

I don't consider no news good news.

The people are called Mileston Financial out of New York City. They are some sort of special even promotion company or something. Haven't heard anything in a week. The Toronto announcement has come and gone and news about our situation has been very quiet.

Actually my friends, its MILESTONE INVESTMENT GROUP, they are the developers and the operator/investor for the new Philly MLS team.

There will be no real news until July 1, 2006. That's when we will learn if Rowan Unv. and Milestone have secured the proper funding (big sticking point being the State of NJ giving them Educational Bonds). If they have secured the funding, then on July 1 (or shortly thereafter) MLS will award them a team.

So besides "leaking" that they actually got the funding (which would require "someone" to sleuth hardcore all NJ State Educational Funding meetings); we won't know anything more until July 1 (7 weeks from now).

How's that for an update? ;)
