continuing the interview with Bruckner:
SUMMARY:
question: Poborsky plays second Czech league (in the opposite of many other czech stars that plays in top international leagues). Bruckener was asked if he was watching Poborsky more closely because he plays second league:
Bruckner answered that it was not necessary. Then he said that he would have been happier if Poborsky had played higher league of course. Bruckner said that training in Ceske Budejovice (team of Karel Poborsky) has the same quality as training in the first league. Karel Poborsky is professional, he played many difficult games, has many experiences. Brucker is no worried about Poborsky. More worries he has about players that plays in TURKEY: HEINZ and Jun.
For people who don´t know some information about Poborsky
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karel_Poborsky
Poborsky left first czech league only because of some personal problems with coach (more personal problems) not because of his performace. I think I already reported about it someday few months ago.
P.S I apologize for my translation. It is not perfect. Sorry.

next question of interview:
http://www.sport.cz/fotbal/f_repre/83015-bruckner--nominaci-na-sampionat-mohu-nahlasit-uz-nyni.html
Question about how many players of 32 nominated players is Bruckner already persuaded.
Bruckner answered that it depends if they are healthy. There are still some players about that we are not sure if they would be fit until world cup.
Question:
If Bruckner nominated the squad now (and not 15 May), he would have not problem. He said that he can say immediately all 32 names of all players nominated for the squad. He don´t need to make any meeting of 40 players and decide about 32 players. He already knows his 32 players.
Bruckner also said that he WILL NOMINATE CZECH SQUAD 3 DAYS EARLIER THAN REQUESTED FROM FIFA!!!
Question: If Bruckner is going to watch some czech players?
Bruckner answered: He would like to watch especially players that starts to play after long injuries, especially he mentioned KOLLER and LOKVENC.
Bruckner also spoke with Koller. Koller is optimist. Koller thinks that he will manage to play last 3 matches in Bundesliga.
P.S I apologize for my translatation. It is not perfect. Thank you very much.

continuing the interview with Karel Bruckener
http://www.sport.cz/fotbal/f_repre/83015-bruckner--nominaci-na-sampionat-mohu-nahlasit-uz-nyni.html
question: How many DVD´s of games does Bruckner have?
Bruckner´s answer: many, but mostly he is watching his team, he follow
his team. From the oppositing teams he is mostly watching USA and then Ghana (but first place USA). He said that he and players have experiences with Italy and Bruckner can watch 2 games of Italy in the world cup.
BRUCKNER IS MOSTLY WATCHING USA, it is 80%.
80% of all games are games of USA!!.
Ghana the rest (20%)
BRUCKNER IS WATCHIN USMNT!!!!
Bruckner said: WE HAVE MANY INFORMATIONS ABOUT USA, because USA playes quiet often:). He mentioned. BRUCKNER IS WATCHING EVERY GAME SEVERAL TIMES, sometimes he is watching some parts more times and analyze them. And in his head he is making his strategy. Of course his strategy is secret.
As I already said: Bruckner mostly concentrate at USA. Italy should be no problem for Czech team. Nedved and other players plays in Italy and Czech team playes several times Italy. USA is new for czech team plus the first match of CZECH IS USA!!!.
P.S I apologize for my translatation. I hope you could understand the main points of the interview. Thank you for understanding.

DEFENCE:
clear nomination:Grygera, Ujfaluši, Rozehnal, Jankulovski, Jiránek, Mareš, Bolf,
not clear: Kováč, Hübschman, Zápotočný
I'd say Hubschman gets the nod over the other two
MIDFIELD:
clear nomination: Poborský, Galásek, Rosický, Nedvěd, Plašil, Šmicer, Polák, not clear nomination: Vachoušek, D. Jarolím, Jarošík
It's between Vachousek and Jarosik
To be fair to Jarosik, he's had an OK season for Birmingham, he's probably been one of their better players this season, although that's not saying much.
FORWARD:
clear nomination: Baroš, Koller, Štajner
not clear nomination: Heinz, Jun, Lokvenc
I'd be surprised if Marek Heinze isn't the one selected, he can also play midfield. Lokvenc is your average target-man, similar to Jan Koller. He's usually a late sub when they require goals, ball's just pumped forward towards him for a flick-on.
That's a tough one but both will probably get selected due to Heinze's versatility and Lokvenc's experience.
Thanks for the information though, it just re-emphasises that the Czechs are a very strong team, but they're beatable.

Well I only report about news from press. Czech are not in the group of Germany. So I don´t care so much about them now. Only if they advance and they will compete with Germany in next round, I will watch czech guys more closely. But since I Czech are in the group of USA, my second favorite team, I try to bring some latest news about czech teams for US fans.
So I can not answer your question if Czechs are beatable or not. They are simply in another group than Germany:).
I think Czech can beat Italy. But I think they will have more problems with USA because they don´t know your team. This is why Bruckner is watching 80% all games only games from USA!!. He wants to get prepared for USA game. He takes your team very seriously.

At least he's not making the same mistake the Portugese made. Good to see someone in Europe takes us seriously.
Btw, re: Poborsky above....he had a nice Euro 2004 as I recall.

did you watch Euro 2004? Czech was pretty impressive. They kicked off us Germans with their B-team (still can not forget them this:). Yes Poborsky was impressive, but mostly it was Baros. I liked this guy during Euro Cup.
Personally I´m glad we don´t have Czech in our group. But we still can meet them if they advance. I would rather USA would advance. I would like to see another Germany-USA game!:)

Kind of amazed that Jarolim is out of favor.. the guy starts for the 2nd best team in Bundesliga and is one of its best players ... Kicker has him as tied for the 5th best midfielder in Bundesliga, even ahead of Rosicki.

Yep I caught every single match...except ironically the Final. Poborsky did play well, and I remember the British commentators saying something to the effect that "this is the kind of performance Man United only had glimpses of" or something to that effect.
Baros had a great tourney, based on speed and service...but has not lived up to the hype....probably could have used better support at Liverpool and playing as a sole striker never helped him....regardless, here we are 2 years later, and I honestly don't expect a repeat performance by Milan Baros...I just don't see it happeneing. I did not see the Cech team play well against quality opponents (Holland and Romania) in WC qualifying....in fact...they were downright poor.
I see your team relying on the organization and preparation of Bruckner, the guile of Nedved and the arm length of Cech...perhaps the addition of Nedved will yield better results against the quality you'll be seeing in Italy and the US.
(BTW I'm not saying the USA is "all that", but I do expect Romania like quality from us, and Holland-like quality from Italy) so if WC qualifying is a barometer...your team may struggle.

if you go back to the wcq semifinals, look at gold cup, and the hex and all the friendlies, arena has used a large number of players...
i'm not surprised 80% of matches would be usa, and 20% ghana...
it'd take that ratio for brukner to become familiar enough with the usa pool

Very exciting! I'm glad the Czech squad will be at full strength. Clearly, Bruckner understands how important the opening game is for both teams. I hope Arena can match his guile.

I don't think it matters how much film he watches of the USMNT because the starting 11 going to Germany in June has probably not been on the field at the same time in any of those games. The downside of that is we might not know what to expect either.

True. However, the problem for the Czechs is that he also had a nice Euro 1996 also. In other words, he's a bit long in the tooth.
