fox sports west is a regional station
fox sports world is national, although on a much smaller scale than espn or espn2... but it's growing and growing fast
i can imagine all the calls cable companies will be getting tomorrow asking for FSW, just don't forget to throw out an extra 50 bucks for the shootout :D

I'm here in Pasadena next to the stadium that hosted two WC finals and the cable company here will not add FSW or MLS Shootout.. They have every other channel you can name but they just won't do it. I beg and plead but it does no good.
Can't use a dish where I am at the moment.
They did add FSWE so I wonder if the game will be on the Spanish version?

I live in glendale CA. the city next to Pasadena.I get FSW but not MLS Shootout. My cable box is set to FSW on power up and I would run in the streets with teers of joy if this is true. I watch FSW about three houres a day on the avg. This channel saved my life.

My cable box will be set to blow up on power on if they don't give me FSW soon and GolTV would be nice too!! Twenty four hours of soccer with an English SAP on half of the games.

If FSW gets full rights to highlights for their show, I see no reason why they can't show highlights from the other games during halftime, as well as during the game.
Imagine watching a 0-0 snoozer between NE and KC, and having "Gamebreak" style highlights of a 4-3 thriller between SJ and Chicago, that is playing simultaneously, during goal-kicks.
These broadcasts have the potential to be much livelier than the ones on ESPN.

Pay up Korn Nuts. What is it like $10 bucks a month? You'll save that and more by not going out to bars and staying home and drinking beer while watching soccer.
FSW is simply the Channel of the Gods.
Lets hope they pull this off. This is a match made in heaven for both parties. And now those Eurosnobs who avoid MLS will no longer be able to avoid it.

I think we are all forgetting the most exciting aspect if this deal comes off. Namely, no Ty Keough on an MLS national broadcast. Wonder what Jack is doing Saturday nights?

Apparently, Jack is now the pbp guy for the Chicago Fire!

Two live nationally broadcast games a weekend? A highlight show? Most teams having a full regional package? Every other MLS game on the shootout?
A-League games Friday nights? US Open Cup games wednesdays?
If ANYONE complains, anyone at all, about this, I'm going to kick you in the teeth. We ought to all be down on our knees thanking MLS, ESPN, and Fox Sports for this s**t.
Now you all better watch, goddammit. Put up or shut up.

What he said.
While the world descends into all sorts of hell, American soccer breaks out into nirvana bliss. ;)

i figure if you go for the shootout, most likely you'll be getting a cable/satellite package that will automatically include fox sports world... so it's like a double bonus
you get the shootout PLUS matches and a highlight show on FSW

So early speculation as to who'll be announcing the highlight show? One of the FSW guys I figure: Bretos? Hopkins? Both?
I'd like to see Dir as well but two things: a) he's not part of the Fox crew; b) isn't he goalkeeper coach for the U-23s or something?
Who would people - within reason - like to see? Or would it just be an ALL highlight show with almost no need for a host per se?

This is great news. Now for the next step -- get Comcrap to be a league sponsor.

Um, it's $80 a month for the absolutely maxed out satelite package that is required to get FSW where I live. I could get it standard on digital cable, but then I can't get the shootout package in my area.
The burning question is will these games be available on the shootout package or am I faced with the prospect of not being able to watch my team play when they are on Fox?
