I hope this means we won't have any more crashes. Occasional "server too busy" messages are one thing, but losing a month's worth of posts and threads is really aggravating.

Ryan Suarez:

" Other rumors flying around...

....

MLS has signed a two-year deal with Fox Sports, over 120 games to be played live. "

120??!!

Most games generally are played live...

Well, 120 games is 60 a year over 2 years...

That'd still be a LOT of games, but somewhat believeable. One or Two matches a week (maybe a wednesday and a saturday game, or maybe playoffs or exhibitions)

I wonder what effect such a deal would have on the shootout package?

my guess is that all the regionally telecast games would be on shootout, all the games not regionally telecast would be on FSW.

did i hear something about FSW broadcasting on shootout, or alongside shootout??

Actually, I believe this rumor. Will be awsome if games are on FSW also. I would actually prefer they delay their broadcasts so that I can see more games. Can't watch all the games on the Shootout package as so many games are on at the same time.

Garber said the league is close to announcing a significant expansion of its TV package in a deal with Fox Sports World, a network long bullish on international soccer.

The package is expected to include a Saturday night game of the week and a weekly hour-long highlight show.

Sorry Liam, but I don't want to have subscribe to the Dallas News Website to read the story.

Well, if the announcement of an MLS/FSW deal DOES comes through next week let me state the obvious: this will be a very, very good thing for MLS. We've never had anything close to the kind of comprehensive TV coverage MLS seems to be on the brink of this season (if you get the Shootout, that is). For me, the prospect of an hour-long highlights show that (I'm hoping) runs the entire length of the season would be a huge thing. Remember, the old ExtraTime show started in (as I recall) June and wrapped up at the end of the regular season (i.e, no playoff coverage). If the new show runs through MLS Cup, it might even breathe some life into the MLS playoffs, which always seemed to slip into anonymity in part (for me, anyway) because the league really didn't have much of a TV presence once the regular season ended. The highlights show and, maybe, guaranteed games on FSW (plus the regional networks and, maybe espn2), would give the league an unprecedented sense of continuity from the regular season to and through the playoffs.

is this another one of those time buys like espn is leaching off us? (althouth i'm thankful that we can at least see the games.) or are we getting at least a few pennies out of fsw for showing all these games?
