+ in Ballacks body ;)
Scholl in a more robust body like Ballack and we would talk today about one of the 5 best midfielders of the last 15 years.
He has everything, technic, skills, can shoot freekicks, can play the deadly pass.. and he is everything what Ballack not is.. loved by the Bayernfans, loved by many other germans, always an smile in the face, always friendly, fantastic technic and an former teeniestar(ok this is also Ballack).
lets pray for Karlsruhe, they must come back in the Bundesliga, just to produce more Players like Scholl and Kahn :)
i really hope that Scholl becomes the "new" Uli Hoeness, he would be perfect. If not he should work for our Youth.
He is also a man for Klinsmann, there are hot discussions about that in germany, everywhere are Votings and stuff like that.
WC Final-- Germany-Brasil 1:1 in the 75th Minute, Scholl is coming in and change the game to germanys side.

.
I hope this happens as well. I would like for Bayern to "reward" Scholl with a position in management or coaching or just on the roster would be good enough for me.
As far as his national team, I think this would be the highest honor anyone could bestow on Scholli. The poor guy has been, as you mentioned, plagued with injuries and has had to miss all the previous World Cups for Germany prior to this one. This would just be amazing. I really really really hope this happens.

good lord you're talking about a zidane if not better. exactly what i would wish for.
on another subject, 3 or 4 years ago the bayern website used to have these pictures of past games. there was a picture of effenberg lifting mehmet off the ground after the real game in which anelka scored that header.
that one made me cry everytime i saw it and i somehow still want to see it.

Alas, but the beauty of the game is that one's size does not matter (and YES... we are talking about fussball here).
Look at all the cheeky, creative types and they are typically wee men, from Maradona to Deco to Robinho and on and on and on. True, in today's game, size and speed taking a much greater importance, but when the ball is on the deck, you need these "low center of gravity" types to keep defenses on their heels.

yes, i mean that Ballack has a good body, you know, he isnt very often injured and Scholls body is not so good, because look back he was often injured and some of them was long time injuries.
man...my english sucks ;)
i say it like that, the better footballer is Scholl but Ballacks body is better to play football because he is not so "verletzungsanfällig"... he dont get often big injuries. its like Santa Cruz he has so much talent in he feets but his body isn made for football, everytime he is fit he gets the next injury.
you can also say, Scholls talent in Kahn body :D u know? ^^:)

O yes I just watched the 2001 CL Final again not long ago, it was a joy to see that team. I remember Jeremias coming in that semi against Real in the Olympiastadion and scored even though he wasn’t 100% recovered from injury, I just loved his determination. I also watched again the Hamburg-FCB game when we became champions of the 2000-2001 season with that Patrick Anderson free kick in the 94’th min. I just went insane after that shot..

Amen, Brother. While we've had great domestic success in recent years, I really miss the days when we absolutely dominated the midfield during matches. The strong midfield allowed us European success even if we didn't have the guns up front of our competitors. That rarely happens with our current bunch, which still allows us to win a weakened Bundesliga but Europe is a bridge too far.

Remembering those days is depressing.
I'd rather have Makaay up front than Jancker though, thats for sure.
Wouldn't mind another Super Mario though or Effe. Legends.
Kuffour can't get enough credit either, I don't know any other defender with so much heart and soul.

fcuking hell man. Kuffor at the Camp Nou beating the ground in absolute inconsolable grief is hands down the most touching moment in football for me.
The guy was beyond despair. It showed how much he wanted the whole thing and pity it was him who gave the corner away.
I loved Sammy for that. I still do. Hes gonna be one of the players i always have a soft corner for.
I see this has turned into the "evoke old memories" or "reminsce in the past" thread....
but as a wise man once said... "it doest do to dwell on the past and forget to live." :)
Onwards Bayern for the future....

The CLS championship team was an amazing side. Loved the team and tactical formations that Hitzfeld used with that group... brilliant. Absolute joy to watch a team with such an open game but so solid in defense. Total football... or as close as it has come since the mid-70's teams of Bayern.
I hated that we let Sammy Kuffour go. He could of and should have been our 3rd Center Back. At least I will get to see him in Germany this summer when Ghana take on the USA in Nuremburg for the last game in the group phase.
