My favorite rivalries among players are the inter-squad rivalries. Fascinating because often the hatred is so strong players would seemingly rather lose than come together as a team with certain players. My favorites:
1) 1996 Dutch team; split on racial, stylistic, and generational lines; so talented yet a complete trainwreck
2) 1994 Brazil; Romario v Bebeto; Romario wouldn't sit next to his own world-cup winning strike partner on the plane to the WC; highly symbolic of class split in Brazil
3) 1978 Dutch; no Cryuff
