Speak for yourself you SOB. :p

You're right. He should not have made such a sweeping statement.

He should have said "Every decent human being hates Totti".

I don't know if ths these fit in this category but this World cup has thrown up a few old foes that I think merit some sort of notable mention.

Scolari vs. Sven Goran Eriksson... third time in a row these two have met in the quarterfinals knockout faze. So far Scolari is 2-0 up.

Henry vs. Puyol/Aragones... Henry went down theatrically after colliding with the Spanish fullback. Puyol is cruelly booked and France score the winning goal from the freekick - thus sending France into the WC quarterfinals and Puyol and Aragones back home early yet again. The history here is that Henry had accused Puyol of kicking him to the bone during Arsenal's champions league defeat against Barcelona several months earlier. We all know what Aragones said about Henry last year. So I guess that playacting had an element of revenge to it.

Totti vs. Guus Hiddink ... Totti was cruelly sent off and denied a golden goal penalty against South Korea 4 years ago as Italy crashed out in the second round to Guus Hiddink's Korea. This time round, Totti crashes home a controversial match winning injury time penalty to send Italy into the quarterfinals and Guus's Socceroos out.

 vs :confused:Prost and Senna were teammates in Formula One racing in the late 1980s. They were driving for McLaren and both were considered to be the best drivers in the world. Senna enjoyed bumping Prost off the circuit all the time.

Back to the soccer/football rivalries:

- Sergio Goycoechea vs the Italian team of 1990

- Zlatan Ibrahimovic vs Zebina, Mido and Ljungburg

- Gentile vs Maradona (remember the 1982 World Cup?)

- Uli Stielike vs everyone

- Christian Poulsen vs any Italian

Scolari vs. Sven Goran Eriksson... third time in a row these two have met in the quarterfinals knockout faze. So far Scolari is 2-0 up.You can make it 3-0 now.

Marcel Desailly vs Hristo Stoichkov

They used to hate each other with passion. Stoichkov probably because of Desailly's usual cocky attitude and Desailly because Stoichkov made racial insults to him in the Euro 1996. They had a few occasions to meet each other in club matches too, and it didn't work out very well neither. I don't know if they would shake hands even now.

Matthäus - Klinsmann
Started in the mid 90's when Matthäus was out of the national team for a few years and he suspected Klinsmann was blocking his return. Klinsmann on the other hand accused Matthäus to give out team internal informations to tabloids.

Not that big but how about Henry V Puyol. CL final, Puyol dives during game and prevents Henry scoring (Henry then calls Barca women). WC, Henry dives and from the resulting penalty a goal is scored.

not the biggest, but John Carew (Norway) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Juve, Sweden) got into some words in the media some time ago.

Carew was asked to comment about the technical skills of Ibrahimovic. Carew answered by saying that all the stuff he can do is useless in a game. To which Ibra replied that what Carew can do with a football, he can do with a grape

:)

ps - that recent message mentioning Gentile & Maradona. A while back Maradona, in an interview, said that he understands it wasn't personal but only part of the game.
