My second season is going incredibly well at the moment. 2nd in the league, on a run of I think 12 matches unbeaten. Martins leads the league and my new signings are settling in well. Just 1 point back of Man U at the moment for 1st.

Have a huge match with Man City(who are currently level on points and games with me) next!

Can't believe I'm actually saying this, but Given is a hefty liability for me at the moment. Fortunately I'm winning games 4-2, but he's letting in pretty much one howler a game.

At the end of March, EA Sports is releasing yet ANOTHER soccer game  ...UEFA Champions League 2006-2007.

Of course, I have to buy it :o . It's basically the same as FIFA, but with only Euro teams, and the official UEFA license. 268 teams, 17 leagues (ToonUSA, I've no confirmation of Romanian teams, but I don't see why not), 49 stadiums  The Treble Mode sounds interesting. More here:

They better have some Romanian teams. At least Steaua seeing as how they actually were halfway decent in the CL this year.

I've fallen victim 2 weeks in a row to the 2 game saturday. My players just are getting too tired. I'm currently 3 points clear of Arsenal after edging Liverpool 1-0 at home. Then I went on to beat Sporting Braga 8-1 on aggregate in the ECC second round.

How good is your medical staff? The higher their rating, the more fit your players (especially helps when you fall victim to the doubleheader).

It's as updated as it should be but I might have to go one level up.

Just beat the newly promoted Mackems 2-0 at the Stadium of Shite :D

If they would've beaten me, they would've been out of the relegation zone. Oops. :)

Finally came out on top in another double fixture saturday. Beat Cardiff City 3-1 at SJP in the FA Cup, and overcame 2-0 and 3-1 deficits to beat Southampton away 4-3. An 85th minute penalty from Obafemi Martins saw off the Saints.

5 points clear of Watford right now. Have West Ham at home and then a daunting ECC first leg game at Galatasaray.

Oh, God.

I had this lineup against Wigan f-ing Athletic: Given, Carr, Onyewu, Taylor, Bale, Solano, Parker, Emre, Luque, Owen, Martins.

And I lost 7-1 at SJP. Given was given a 1.0 match rating. Emre and Taylor both got dismissed.

So what do I do? Drop everyone. New lineup at Fulham: Harper, Huntington, Bramble, Ramage, Babayaro, N'Zogbia, Butt, Pattison, Duff, Sibierski, Ameobi. I win 2-1 at Fulham.

I'm actually considering selling Given at this point. He's been absolutely terrible for me for some reason.

Every keeper in the game has poor runs of form. Given is prone to have a few bad games and then he'll come around. I've had him surrender 5 or 6 goals and be between a 2-4 in match rating. He'll pull through.

Yeah...except I'm like 12 games into my season and he's had maybe one good one. I mean, he's making Barthez look like the best keeper in history at this point.

Beat West Ham 2-1 playing a pretty much 2nd team as I rested the 1st team for the away game against Galatasaray. We travelled to Turkey on a cold, raint European night and ran out 7-4 winners  . Means we would have to get beat 4-0 at SJP to lose because 7 away goals means ur as good as through. Now we go to Smog land to face their pathetic 17th place arse.

Just as I say that I run out a reserve team and get beat 4-3 by Boro. Started off brilliantly with a Milner goal. They answered and then 2 mins later a cross delfected off Ramage for their 2nd. They had a howler from about 30 go in for the 3-1 and Ayegbheni or whatever put a rebound home. I then had to sub Martins and Duff in but it was too late. Zogs fired home a header with 30 mins to go. We hammered them for the final half hour had Martins taken down in the box to be given no penalty countless 1 on 1's where the keeper saved and then with 3 mins left Martins fired home for the 3rd.

Now, my question how does 4 goals and 3 subs in a half only warrant 1 minute of stoppage time? Just curious.

Anyway, playing 2nd place Watford at SJP right now.

The Smoggies can be tough. In my Newcastle career they're a 4-star squad (just like me).

Hammered them 5-2 at the Riverside in the fourth round of the League Cup.

Next game after that is Liverpool at home, where Duff scores one of the strangest goals I've ever seen. I have him playing in central midfield, paired with Dyer since Parker is out because of fatigue. He gets a pass from Solano on the right wing, and his first touch sends him in on goal with Finnan trying to close down from behind and Hyypia from his right. Finnan ends up tripping him at about eight yards out, and Hyypia tries to clear. However, Duff goes to ground right in Hyypia's path, and Hyypia clears it off the falling Duff's head and into the Liverpool net. Just the way I drew it up.

Just beat Galatasaray 12-4 on Agg.

This ECC is a joke. I play Olympiakos in the Semis and then face the winner of Fener and Fiorentina in the final.

Now, I have Everton, Fulham, and Bolton with an FA Cup Semifinal thrown in.

Yeah, I don't like it either.

That's why I can't wait for the UEFA CL game.

The ECC is a big joke. I mean Olympiakos is like a 3 star team and they are in the Semis? I beat them 7-3 in Greece and will field my 2nd team for the game at SJP. Bambi had 6.

Beat Everton 4-0, Fulham 5-1, Zulus 3-1 in the FA Cup Semi, and drew at Bolton 3-3. 6th place Man City next.

Beat Olympiakos 3-2 at SJP to advance to play Fenerbahce in the final.

Beat Man City 3-1 and then beat Spurs 3-2 to win the league and deny them a spot in the top 4.

Just won the FA Cup over Pompey in what was a suprisingly close game. Bambi had his 15th minute penalty saved. Oba put us in the lead just before the half. Lua Lua scored to even it and then Pompey took the lead in the 77th. Oba scored in the 89th and then Scotty Parker scored in injury time for the 3-2 win.

Fener in the CL final coming up...
