Travis, get FIFA 07 asap. It's pretty sweet, and a lot more realistic.
What are some of the new features?
How are the Mags?

Hmm...let's see...new player growth feature in manager mode (which overall is a lot slicker...and your currency can be in euros, pounds, or $)...there's other new stuff too, it's just slipping my mind. Overall the gameplay's a lot smoother than last year...and harder to score (no more "sweet spots" that work every time, and goalies are a lot better)...and more special moves which are tough to pull off sometimes. And the Mags new away kits look sweet. Of course, remember to make these transfers (if you care):
Sibierski to Toon
Mascherano/Tevez to West Ham
Gallas for A. Cole
Wayne Bridge to Toon :D (crosses fingers...it worked for me in manager mode tough, the Toon's budget is of course a lot higher than other English teams in the game)
And for some reason Titus Bramble is in the starting XI when Taylor is rated much higher.
Zaph, online features includes an "always online" setting, so you're always connected and can get real-life scores updated in real time at the bottom of the screen. Also, there are online leagues/seasons and rivalry games (don't know too much about this yet though). Not sure if I can get my PS2 online at my new house yet, but we'll see.

VIRTUAL TOON TRANSFERS!
This is the cure to all our woes. Are you listening, FF??
In my first year:
Out: Bramble, Carr
In: Bridge, Chimbonda
Now I need a new CB during the summer. Suggestions?

Cannavaro, Marquez, Puyol, Ferdinand, Terry... :p
If you wanted to shell out a reasonable amount you could try for Distin or Upson, I suppose.

I nall the hustle and bustle of football season I have yet to pick-up Fifa 07. NCAA Football 07 seems right at this time. I have however put down Fifa 07 on the Christmas list. Also added Call of Duty 3. Looks pretty good.
Probably last year of a Christmas list for me. Better take advantage. :D

FIFA 07 is like crack! I have manager modes going on with FOUR teams (Bayern, Newcastle, DC United, and Juventus...just because I wanted to see what it's like to get promoted from Serie B to Serie A). Of course, I mainly just play the Bayern and Newcastle careers...also, have you heard of a PS2/Xbox shooter called BLACK? I'm thinking of getting it now that it's only $20...
Ideally I'd ask for an XBox 360 for Christmas...but i'm 23 so I have to buy one myself :D Maybe in the new year...Gears of War looks amazing, and of course I'll have to get Halo 3 (after missing the Halo bandwagon last generation).

I have a feeling I will get hooked. With the spring semester of my senior year coming up and me technically already being graduated I won't be at school very often. :D
Haven't heard of Black what's it about?

My good friend has it. He really enjoys it. He has Tiger Woods Golf for it and it is amazing. The graphics and gameplay are remarkable. Also, there are some good shooter games for it.

http://ps2.ign.com/articles/690/690579p1.html
I don't know too much about it, but I know it is to the first-person shooter genre as Burnout is to the racing genre, which is an excellent thing (I don't know if you've ever playing the Burnout series...if not, you must buy Burnout 3 without hesitation, also only $20)...this quote from the IGN review sums up why I want it:
The essence of BLACK is destruction. It's not meant to be a game where you precisely aim every shot and conserve ammo like it's a natural resource. Rather, you're encouraged to unload round after round after round in the general vicinity of your enemies, and should your bullets not find their way directly to your target, the explosive crates, barrels, oil tanks, mines, chunks of cement or whatever else near your foes will surely get them.
One thing that BLACK absolutely nails, unquestionably, is the way that each and every single bullet fired interacts with the environment in some fashion. Each shot gives you some sort of visual feedback in one way or another, be it as simple as dust kicking up when a bullet hits dirt or an absolutely enormous silo exploding upon impact with a rocket.
Basically I just want to destroy things with guns and not spend too much time worrying about storyline and such. The fact that is has amazing graphics doesn't hurt either. So yeah, I can probably tell you more about it when I get it.

I am playing FM 07 as Newcastle and while I can score like mad, I couldnt stop a one-legged 5 year old from scoring. Any tactical advice?

Sounds fine to me if you're outscoring the opposition. I prefer a 4-2 game to a 1-0 game any day of the week.

What formation are you running?
I prefer a 5/3/2 where the wing-backs are basically withdrawn midfielders and the three midfielders are more advanced. Leaves plenty of room for overlapping runs and diagonals through the midfield, so on and so forth. It's actually somewhat similar to the formation we've been running on the right half of the field with Solano and Milner.
For illustration's sake:
-------------------Martins---------Sibierski-----------------
---------------Parker--------Emre-----Milner---------------
---------Duff-----------------------------------Solano-------
--------------Taylor------Bramble-------Ramage-----------

Got Fifa 07 yesterday.
So far I love it. The part that excites me is you really have to take time and set up your shot. Unlike 06 where you could fire from like 30 yards out and force the keeper into a save. Also, that your keeper can save the computer's shots. It was so frustrating last year that whenever or wherever the conputer shot from it would beat Shay. Now the keepers are much better and they must be beaten by quality chances. The passing is also much improved. Your players actually pass to your teammates as opposed into space randomly. The graphics are much better and the crowd actually is into the game.
The new feature that I find most interesting is the player growth feature where you have to play your players to get them Match XP. It's tough though getting all the Newcastle players on the bench and pitch. I've gotta start loaning and selling players. (Bramble, Luque must be sold)
Our away uniforms look sweet too.
I'm currently 10 games into my Manager Mode season. (8 league games and 2 Cup games) I'm still undefeated with 4 wins and 4 draws. Owen and Martins are dynamite up front and can't be stopped.

They are a killer duo. Right now my Toon lineup is as follows (second season):
Chimbonda - Taylor - Ramage - Bridge
-----------------Parker
Milner-------------------------Duff
-----------------Emre
----------Owen---------Martins
Working pretty well so far, Solano (the "fan favorite") and Dyer are killer subs.
In my Bayern career, up front I have Podolski and Bojinov. If you can, try to buy one of these guys ASAP (Poldi is expensive...Bojinov's a relative bargain). Not that you need them with Martins and Owen, but if you want a lethal sub, Bojinov's your guy. Unfortunately I haven't been able to transfer in too many great players as a Newcastle manager. It's crazy. I really need another great wing back.

I've got my first year as this: Basic 4-4-2
Carr-Taylor-Moore (or Ramage depends on fitness)-Babayaro
Solano-Parker-Emre-Duff
Martins-Owen
I usually put on Box Overload and Counter Attack. Martins and Owen in a give and go situation is amazing. I have to wait for the transfer window to get rid of the usual suspects. My bench usually looks like this:
Harper
Ramage or Moore
N'Zogbia
Dyer
Ameobi
I plan on trying to sell Babayaro, Bramble, Luque and maybe Nicky Butt. There are just too many players that will have no spot. I could use the money and most of the players they are backing up are fairly young. I try to play Huntington and my young Academy Prospect I signed as much as possible to giev them Game XP. I'm also considering sending some guys out on loan like:Pattison, O'brien, and possibly Krul. I'll look into Bojinov and other Strikers possibly my boy Mutu.
Why the hell is Solano the fan favorite? That shocked me when I got that message.

Don't know why Nobby's the fan favorite. He's due for retirement during my current season I think. Milner's rating will go way up after the first year, and he'll definitely take Nobby's place.
Also, forgot to mention one thing: Butt's rating goes way up when you play him as a LB or RB (like 5 points, up to 78), so he's worth keeping on as a sub.

Txt that to Roeder... we might as well try that next game.
