Don't know if this was posted before but....

FIFA will pay for the refurbishment of the main soccer stadium in the Gaza Strip after Israel bombed the pitch last week, the game's world governing body said in a statement on Tuesday.
The pitch of the Palestine Stadium was hit by a warhead and rendered unplayable in a bombardment of areas Israel says are used by militants to fire rockets across the border into the Jewish state.
"In order to show its strong commitment...as a unifying tool in the region, FIFA will cover the costs of the rehabilitation of the football pitch of the Palestine Stadium in Gaza after it was damaged in a recent bombardment," the FIFA statement said.
I'm sorry, but it is really to feel bad for Israel and defend them from the threats of its neighbors when they pull shit like this.
Someone help we with this one. Does anyone know more?

Is it hard to feel bad for Palestinians when there was an attack on an Israeli soccer field last week?
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3234369,00.html
And the Israelis missile was fired at an empty field as a deterrent. I am not sure I buy that but...

I can't believe this particular attack upsets you. Read Tom Gross' article about the atrocities commited at soccer fields over the years and then reason why this is the one incident FIFA decides to get political about?

One is a field and one is a stadium. There is a different emotional attachment to either. It seems like on was a local park while the gaza place was a national arena. Am I correct?
Also, one was done by the Israeli government while the other was commited by terrorists.
I'm not upset. Frankly, I could give a shit about both Israel and Palestine. It's just that I am hit over the head with this Israel is a poor victim propoganda all of the time and this article does not seem consistent with that assertation.
Can you link to Tom Gross' article?

nobody is saying Israel is innocent in this conflict. Now, first of all, the article itself could be missing many facts. It's not like news agency haven't made mistakes and blamed Israel for variety of things that were not true. Second, while it is the terrorists who commit atrocious acts against Israel, last time i checked, Hamas was a terrorist organization in my book and they ARE a governemnt. If an official governmen does nothing to prevent its citizens, who are terrorists, from attacking other nations, then that governemnt automatically becomes a terrorist organization as well.
I'm not saying that Israel is right, but with all the history with Palestine, i think Israel has shown more restrain towards Palestinians then it's getting credit for.

I'll try and give the benefit of the doubt. But why a football stadium? What does that have to do with securing Israel?
Just wondering

1. The stadium was actually used for terrorist activities.
2. Palestinians have a really, really bad soccer team.

Honestly, i don't know. I know that Hamas/PLO/IJ is constantly upgrading it's Qassam rockets, so just b/c the article quaoted the Palestinians saying that the rockets can't reach Israel, it doesn't mean they are not trying.
Honestly, it's not like Israel has nothing better to do than to bomb a useless stadium.

But it's an emotional strike, so it makes sense if you are trying to demoralize your enemy.
I google earthed that stadium. It doesn't seem like the best place to launch from if you are targeting the more important parts of Israel.

Really? What better things do they have to do?
Considering all of the attacks their army has made apon innocent people, I really doubt they're "too busy to bomb such a place".

Perhaps because Israel is always portrayed as the innocent bystander in US media, specially on outlets like CNN and FOX.

That's because you are biased, just as I am biased so that when I hear the same news story, I think it is anti-Israeli. Neither Israel or Palestine deserve a free pass.

It is really very simple. Palestinians use public places such as soccer fields to fire Kassam rockets from Gaza on Ashkelon, and this shit happens daily, so if IDF decides to use artillery to shell those launching pads, whether it's a soccer field or a camel-fornicating stadium, so be it. I am sick of how the media portrays Israel as an agressor, STOP SHOOTING THE ********ING ROCKETS INTO ISRAEL AND NO ONE WILL SHOOT BACK! Palestinian terrorists love firing rockets from other public places such as schools or near civilians' houses, so what should be done about it, nothing?! If FIFA wants to pay for it, let them, maybe they can pay for some kassam rockets as well, which were destroyed by IDF's artillery.

The IDF has acknowledged that the stadium was specifically targeted to "send a strong message to the Palestinian people against terrorism."
"Knowing the stadium was unpopulated, artillery fire from Israel was fired directly at it," said the IDF Spokesman. "The terrorism is coming from within them, and they need to know that they are the ones suffering."

Fox's portrayal of Israel is fair and balanced.

Fox's portrayal of Israel is fair and balanced.
The term "fair & balanced" reminds me of the culture of "one-liners" that has been created for us. Future historians will write extensively about how in late 20th and early 21st century (up to now that we know), "one-liners" replaced the culture of search and reason that the "West" had used as its flagship of the enlightenment. One-liners define policies, one-liners make major decisions with global impacts.
I guess that's what happens when the comedians start to take over. Their one-liners do magic ;)
Folks, if you start to think about it, this world is more fuked up than we think, and it's not always the other guy's fault.

So Israel is innocent since they felt afraid of a stadium being a place where they trained their terrorists?
