our current U17 team is great. We have a bright future. Especially David Vrzogich, Marko Marin, Toni Kroos, Manuel Fischer und Alexander Neumann are names that you should keep in mind!

I've heard a bit on this Toni Kroos fellow being a big prospect. What position does he play? He plays with Hansa Rostock correct?

He will probably move to Bayern Munich next year. Kroos plays offensive midfield, can shoot with both feet. Good technique and you must always consider that he is already a leader of the U17 team although he could still play for the U16 national team.

Yeah, he's K-P's younger brother and also plays in the Hertha system.

From what I have heard (thanks to TOLH!), he is supposed to be as a big a talent as Kevin-Prince.

Thanks for the info. I hope you're right, as Kevin-Prince has impressed me a lot during the youth championships as well as this season for his club.

Speaking of the Boatengs, I find the stance of some of the Ghanian press to be a little silly. A recent article referred to the Black Stars being bothered by the attitude of Kevin-Prince Boateng, a "renegade national".

Indeed silly, considering he was born and raised in Germany by his Ghanian father and German mother.

oh well...who cares...;) The polish press is also "unhappy" about Eugen Polanski who had recently decided to play for Germany.

The important thing is that those guys are products of the German Football. And it proves that our youth work is getting better and better.

@ Fraeulein96 and Smithfan: Are these matches friendlies or tournaments?

"Eisenfuß" Eilts

Germany - Switzerland was a "friendly tournament" ;) match.

The U20 teams from Germany, Italy, Austria and Switzerland
play every year a four nations tournaments.
Austria plays with their U21, because they don´t have a U20.
The last two years Germany won, but this year Italy will win the title.
German U20 should manage to leave the last place in table. :(

Here are all results of the tournament:
14.09.2005 Switzerland - Germany 2:1
26.10.2005 Switzerland - Italy 2:1
09.11.2005 Austria - Switzerland 2:0
12.11.2005 Austria - Italy 0:1
07.12.2005 Italy - Germany 2:0
01.02.2006 Italy - Austria 2:0
22.02.2006 Germany - Italy 1:1
01.03.2006 Switzerland - Austria 2:4
22.03.2006 Austria - Germany 2:3
29.03.2006 Italy - Switzerland 3:0
26.04.2006 Germany - Switzerland 1:1
16.05.2006 Germany - Austria -:-

table:
1. Italy 10:3 13
2. Switzerland 7:12 7
3. Austria 8:8 6 (5 matches played)
4. Germany 6:8 5 (5 matches played)

The U19 match in Poland was a friendly,
their next EC qualification matches take part
from May 26th till May 31st.
Good to see them getting winning spirit.

One item of interest: Both the U21 as well as the U17 sport offensive 4-3-3 systems, much closer to Klinsmann's philosophy than Bertie's or Rudi's. Incidentally they are top contenders for their respective ECs this year.

Coincidence ;) ?

I'm all for this new more offensive strategy, could pump some excitement back into the German squad but it works quite different at the top level and thats why itll take quite a while for Klinsmans system, with all the youth, to become that well oiled effective machine.
