I hope those in the Irish jerseys were all Irish!

Still, I remember a SPIEGEL article about the "German paddy" phenomenon that tried to explain why there are so many Germans that support either Celtic or the Irish NT.
Lots to do with subliminal shame and guilt to feel German etc.

Feel guilt for what ?

The only thing you can feel guilt for happened before most of them was born.
So i can´t understand for which thing they are feeling guilty.

But i have to admit the Irish style is very cool and i am also a Guiness fan. :D

Yep, I find that very strange too. Same with that often ridiculous political correctness in Germany.

were you supporting Ireland Uwe?

Didn't you see my German scarf? I was supporting Marko Marin, Robert Fleßers, Juri Judt, Darren O'Dea and Alex O'Brien ... so it's obvious that I cheered for both teams and can live very well with the draw. ;)

The guys in the Eire tops were Irish (I know them from Finnegan's) ... whereas most of the lads with Celtic tops at the Nordtribüne were Germans.

What a nonsense!

Btw: Celtic is that foreign football club with the most German supporters (followed by Liverpool)!

Is there a reason for that?

Obviously because Nakamura Shinsuke is the greatest footballer ever.;)

Oh Boy, oh boy, what a match.... After Ghana made their comeback by scoring two goals in less than two minutes (52./53.), it was a real thriller! I was a nervous wreck before the TV for the rest of the match *shudder*

And in the last minute of extra time, Ghana's last freekick hits the crossbar.. I almost died of a heart attack, but in the end we won! YEAH!!!

Germany-Ghana 3-2 (3-0)

German goals:
1-0 Sascha Bigalke
2-0 Toni Kroos
3-0 Toni Kroos

You can hardly play better than Germany did in the first half...That was excellent, brilliant passing and finishing by Dowidat and Bigalke for the first goal and by Bigalke and Kroos for the 3rd one. And Kroos' freekick was a piece of technical class, too (with a little bit of luck).

Ghana totally owned the second half after the 3-2 and showed their potential and quality, so all in all, it was a very exciting match of two teams that both can play very well and looked like really strong sides. I am glad I watched it! :)

PS:

Honorable mention for "Most remarkable referee cooperation" goes to the ref and the fourth FIFA official... German Konstantin Rausch was injured and treated outside of the pitch. The fourth official seemingly allowed him to get back on the field, but the ref showed him a yellow card (his 2nd yellow = yellow-red), obviously just for entering the pitch without the ref's clearance. That's communication between refs at it is supposed to be! :(

They are lacking physical and mental strength as they have almost gifted the second game away vafter a comfortable lead.

Live and Learn I guess.

Glad they won though, even better that Kroos bagged the brace.

Yeah, I noticed that too. They can sure score; 6 goals in two games - but they also let in 5!

Yes, good former GDR (Hansa Rostock) youth education.
That´s meant serious, in basics the education there is very good,
look at Ballack, Schneider and many other, who learned the basics there.

Maybe the sectarian violence attracts German hooligans? They do have great fights up there in Glasgow you know.

why not? I'm also a big Celtic supporter + German. That however has to do with the former friendship between Celtic and Borussia.

Yeah, I know. Of course that's the reason I support Glasgow Celtic...

@ Smithfan

Since you have some sympathy for Celtic, you can use my U21 pics (especially those with Marin) for your page if you want.

this team simply HAS to own the EC. Its important cause they will be the team playing the u20 WC and with those players they should have a chance of winning it.

Btw Kroos could also get a nomination for this team after the u17 WC. The u18 is unimportant (no major tournaments) and Kroos is simply too god for them.
There might be even a chance that he also skips the u19 and gets directly into the u21 but i doubt that, the DFB is very conservative in such things and the u19 is currently more important.

It's surprising that Marin plays for the U21 as in the past the DFB was all about year of birth and never promoted players to the next level.

Sure it would be great to see Marin, Özil, Kroos and Fischer all playing together but I doubt that this is the DFB's philosophy.
