Gladbachs 18 years wizard Marko Marin received his first call up for the german U-21.

This is what he´s saying about his call up:

"For me a dream truly comes true. Its a huge honour to be part of the U-21 especially as a younger player like me. I know that the U21 is rate very higly at the DFB and is also in the spotlight (of Jogi?) It is the last step to take to the full german national team,too. There are currently some examples (I think he means Tasci and *sob* Khedira here) that U-21 national players will always get a chance to proof themselves in the A-NT.

Is he actually hoping for a fast promotion to Jogi? :eek:

Regarding Marin, it might be a bit too soon to talk about it but if he keeps to play like that for Gladbach he might have a chance to get into the A-Team even if he plays just in the 2nd league.
Till now he was the best player on the pitch in the first two matches and i can only see him improve as he gets more and more experience.
He seriously reminds me of Messi. I know this is a huge comparison but his abilities with the ball are outstanding and he is together with Kroos for sure the biggest talent germany has currently to offer.
At least i would like it a lot more to see him (ofc only if he keeps playing like this) at the EC than players like Rolfes, Odonkor or any other player where u know wont have much of a future in this team allthough i thought so too about Hitzelspger and i admit my mistake in this one. :D

It was not Boris Becker :D ... but Andreas Beck from VfB Stuttgart.

I think it was a very interesting game which ended with a fair result. The Irish playmaker Gleeson was outstanding in my eyes! Great to see my Borussia guys Flessers and Marko Marin come in after the interval. I'm sooooo proud of the pics I took with and from Marko before, during and after the match!!! ;) And of course the fotos with Hans Meyer and Darren O'Dea from Celtic (Aiden McGeady wasn't nominated, since he'll play for Ireland against Denmark tomorrow).

I'll be uploading many great pics for you tomorrow (I was very close to the pitch, the players and tv section after interval).

Beck from Stuttgart was meant..he finally equalized after running endlessly against the Ireland :rolleyes: Was a okay match but we made some stupid defending mistakes though.

Marin was subbed in at minute 50 something and had some dribblings where I thought WOOOOOOOOW since when is Messi german :eek: :D

Will later definitely upload some highlights from that young fellow and his buds ^^

Note aside: I loved when Hans Mayer argued with the commentator as he said "Marin has outstanding technical qualities but dribbles too much sometimes. Hans Meyer replied: You should never EVER say he dribbles to much. At his age its a must do...and I´m glad to see he is doing all this dribblings. Players who can only run we have enough though. Great. Kudos for that Mr.Meyer. ^^

ya, Meyer is simply a great coach and it shows that the age of the coach has nothing to do with how "modern" a coach thinks or how well he can handle young players.
THAT'S the right kind of coach and not those who tell young players that nothing is more important than being able to run, run and run.

Still, I remember a SPIEGEL article about the "German paddy" phenomenon that tried to explain why there are so many Germans that support either Celtic or the Irish NT.
Lots to do with subliminal shame and guilt to feel German etc.
