This is a great marketing campaign.
Back in 1966, you could rent a Shelby GT350-H from Hertz for a nominal fee. The program was shut down after Hertz officials noticed that they were being rented, taken to the track for racing, then returned. Some people even went so far as to weld in a roll cage for the race, then removing it before returning the car.
