The Times newspaper (UK) today revealed that the FIFA World Cup final will be played using a GOLD Teamgeist ball, and the winners will use the same design of ball in all their games for the next four years.
The paper also revealed that the winners of the tournament will keep the ball until the next World Cup. It also went on to say that adidas designed the Teamgeist to be black and white (the first time a black and white ball has been used in the WC since 1994) because it is the colours of Germany.
All I'm worried about is whether the 'keepers will be able to see it!

What if a Nike sponsored team wins?
They won't be using an Adidas ball for the next 4 years.
Dumb idea.

Hmmm gold ...
Well i guess the fevanova ball used in the 2002 world cup was a goldish colour and the keepers didnt seem to have any problems with that. I guess that Adidas have taken everything into account when testing the ball.
I'd prefer to see a white ball. I liked the white and black one.

They could well have a deal considering Nike have allowed, without protest, adidas to use their sponsored countries' flags on the WC Tunits. A long shot.

They also have used the Logo's for the team (KNVB's Lion, etc.).
I'm sure Nike would have a say in that.

The country logos have probably been around longer than Nike has been a company. They could change some logos if they felt so inclined (I'm sure they probably have), but that doesn't mean they own it. Unless they slipped a swoosh or some stripes on the badge, I don't think they could 'own' it.

I didn't say they owned it. I assumed that when Nike paid to sponsor the national team they paid to produce all football-related apparel, and that includes football boots. A flag obv. can't be copyrighted but if they really wanted to kick off they could say they had an exclusive deal to produce football related apparel with the national federation. Obviously not!
Please read what I said ppl!!

Yes, they produce all the apparal like training gear and kits but they'd draw the line at boots. Players are contracted to wear that training gear but with the exception of Germany's Adidas deal for example, players wear whatever boots they want. Nike wouldn't have a say in whether Adidas decide to put a flag, badge or a certain colour scheme on there.

A valid point for a Tottenham fan!

I like the look of the world cup final ball. I was afraid it was going to a one-tone deal.. all the same shade of gold.

if they are planning on doing what you said with the customised balls the exact same thing was done in portugal with the roteiro the balls also featured the exact longitude and latitude of the centre spot of the pitch.
