I was actually impressed. The 19 year old kid showed some good qualities. Hopefully, Santiago Fdz and this kid can come of age....

Yeah he showed some poise and excellent ball control. He looked like his fitness was an issue. That'll change I'm sure with more playing time in the starting 11.

Is this kid mexican ? I would think so but his based on his physical features he almost looks Colombian at first sight. If he grows that hair into a fro we may have the second coming of el Pibe Valderrama but the mexican version !:D Kid looks very agile and looks like he has fundamentals, hopefully he'll develop and get confidence with playing time and for being just 19 looks to have a good physical presence. Will be watching him closely he looks like he could be something special one day;)

You still have faith in Santiago Fdz huh?

He needs to start getting more PT... and soon.

Fernandez isnt old, so hes still got a shot. He's shown some flashes over the years, so i think he can develop. Wether or not he has the dedication and heart is another story. I dont know all the details, but he quit America rather abrubtly a few years back when he wasnt given a spot on the team so you have to question that a bit.

I guess you beat me to it , I was going to make a thread about this kid Archie
Overall I was impressed with his plays and most of of his individual plays was the most impressive part. Through out the game he showed a lot of composure and sure has individual talent. Just like the Televisa crew kept praising him for his performance he deserved.

i think he showed great poise as well. physically he is very well developed for a 19 yr old kid.

the problem with this is that he plays for us. what i mean by this is that the Club's position is that it has to have the 'best' right now, especially at a such a delicate position as center forward. Unfortunately I don't see him or Santiago developing much at America because there will always be some 30yr old experienced veteran avaialable for the team to buy instead. :(

Although the kid was given little responsibility, at least he didn't panic. AMerica really had to use a U-21 to comply with the rules now that Ochoa is gone, and now it's all up to him. That's about it. I hope he doesn't become another Santiago Fernandez.

The problem is that America will never give this kid continuity unless he just starts to tear it up Pele style. As someone mentioned, the Piojo's and Kleber's of the world always get the benefit of the doubt in America no matter their form.

By the way anybody know this kid's background? His name sounds vaguely French to me.

The reason for Julien Freire to play was not to comply with u-21 rule, since america has already accomplished the required minutes and he didn't leave the team to go play for barcelona, it was leo beenhakker who cut him from the squad. I really hope they give him a chance to play more, although i don't think this was the right game to do so.

Fernando Julien Freire is from Mexico city thouhg he has a french and spanish backround in his family.

He can really play, he has very good teqnique and very good skills, he is only 19 years old so i can imagine were he can get to if he gets the support every young player needs , which in mexico is very hard to get. I bet he is a lot better then most of the old guys in America.

This is the only way Mexico will win a wordcup someday, by supporting new young MEXICAN players and not bringing them from other country. Look at the spanish team, they have an avrage of 22 years, Raul is old for the team jajaj

i think you probably could've picked a better argument than Spain...a team that has fizzled out of the last few world cups. ;)

Way not play him over that slow Esqueda? Freire looked way more poised than this chump. I know Esqueda only got in a few plays, but he looked clumsy.

No joke. I really like this kid, but I suspect Mosqueda has chewed up his playing time. Maybe next season, bring him up. He's just 19 or so. So no need to do or die.
