As the season is over, at least for those without qually, it's time to look back to the old season and forward to the new one. This is the thread to post about how you've done and what your plans are.
The FC Holzöpfel is continuing our rise up to the more interesting league levels. We won the third medal in a row and are promoting to D.VII now. This season features our very first league loss, and next season I expect more of them. Just looked at the new league, and I could fight for promotion (and maybe even the title) again next season but I won't make too many sacrifices to pursue this goal.
It's getting tougher now, and I also have to worry about the long-term future. This means giving top priority to making money, because planning a push to D.V here in Schweiz later on is hopeless without a nice cash reserve. Since we're such a big HT country, the pressure is already getting high in D.VI and profitability is dropping significantly in D.V because of player wages. Therefore, I plan about 4 seasons in VII and VI together, putting some money aside to ensure nice financial power and interest earnings later on. Of course I also have to value success on the field because that brings money as well, but I'll try to win a couple of cup games even if it means less league success. Plus I'll invest into the training programme rather than in other reinforcements, and maybe even start to keep some money in the account. The right mixture will be key.

I'm still in VI.358; I just finished my third season. I finished in second place for the third season in a row after holding first for at least two weeks for the third season in a row. My players nabbed their second golden boot in a row after in my first season when a player came in second by only one goal. My ratings continue to climb as I constantly freak out about wondering whether or not my midfield stacks up.
I plan on promoting next season, kinda like how I've planned on promoting the past three. I'm still two seasons away from my first big post-trainee-selling cash rush, but seeing as how a creampuff just got demoted into my series, I'm feeling good about the coming months.
Also, the animated gif I just found for my logo rocks. Leona rules!

After looking at the make-up of my series next season, I find an interesting situation.
2 of the 3 new teams coming into my series are currently bots and we currently have a team who was reset about 4-5 weeks ago.
I can just stand pat with my current team's non-training positions, while selling trainees, and still be comfortable for at least a top of the table finish. The good thing is that currently I have 4 future coach prospects on my team who are all Passable in XP and at least Passable Leadership.
What should I do, stand pat. gather finances, and get those coach candidates closer to, if not over, Sol XP or upgrade as funds are available in a deflated market?

I also expected to promote from Division VI this season but that ambition was quickly destroyed after making some personnel mistakes. I was comfortably in first place until about Week 9 when I underestimated my closest competition, skill-trading made me some money but totally wiped out my team spirit, and I stumbled to the finish line into second place.
The foundation for the future has been laid out now though. I have some high-level 17 year old trainees and 18 year olds who will hopefully develop into top scorers. I managed to upgrade my stadium so I'll likely see more profits there. I now have enough money to fully fund my youth system, which is starting to pump out some good youngsters. Finally, and most importantly, I understand the importance of team spirit and midfield.
The plans for this offseason and most of next season is to stay put, let my trainees develop, and try to make a decent cup run. My goals certainly is to promote.

looks like your moving up to v.144, which looks to be pretty tough, the top 6 all are pulling over 170.

I have a qualifier against Golden Wombats of IV.27. I probably won't win because he can match my strong point which is my midfield and his attack is much better than mine.
This offseason, I'm definetely going to move some players around. I got a winger I could sell for some decent cash and I need to move a defender off the team cause he's getting too old.
So I need a new:
-foward
-defender
-winger
And I'm going to sell a:
-defender
-winger
-foward
I got just over $3 million in the bank without selling those players. I should be able to buy at least 2 of the 3 new upgrades that I want. Maybe all 3 if I find some good deals

After being bumped down from V to an all-bot VI series I contemplated whether or not to sandbag it and stay in VI with no competition but just saving all my earnings and not selling any players. Decided against that and am now headed back up to V to what apparently is one of the tougher series V.73.
My trainees are getting old, 4 will be able to drink in the US this coming season. Only sold off one true trainee before so don't know what age is most profitable but I can probably part with 2 of them I would safely assume to restock with 17's and beef up the squad.
Here's to hoping that screwing up my line up in one single league match last time in V doesn't doom me to being demoted again like it did last time.

Finished a satisfying third place in my second season in V.20. The offseason is pretty uneventful, the only move I'm planning is promoting a coach with better leadership.
Next season, I'm planning on finishing somewhere in the top 4. There will be one team considerably stronger than mine and 3 others roughly as good as mine. I'll be selling a trainee or two around midseason and should generate enough money for atleast one major upgrade at the forward or winger position.

What should I do, stand pat. gather finances, and get those coach candidates closer to, if not over, Sol XP or upgrade as funds are available in a deflated market?I would go for the first option. Use that money for interest gathering and buying better replacements when you sell a trainee. It's tough mentally because it's more fun to buy good players at all positions, but it's probably the wiser thing to do in the long run. Prices probably won't start rising too soon, so there's no point in buying right now when you don't need to yet.

I have 3 outstanding mids and I still struggle to pull a decent midfield for Division V (aka inadequate)... what kind of midfielders do I need to get these passable/solid midfields that a ton of my opponents seem to easily get??

So here is my basic dilemma…
I have been training PM and my three IM are now:
Age 20/21, world class to titanic
My three backups:
Age 17/18, excellent to brilliant
All have at least inadequate passing, but I will have to train stamina in the off season as my backups do not have great stamina.
I’ve recently replaced my main wingers and 1 backup (waiting on the other to pop). I have two decent forwards and one good defender. The next places for me to upgrade are two wingbacks.
However, I do not think I can sell my main IM at any point because I need to stay competitive in my division. 4 teams in my division (1 who is promoting hopefully, but the other 3 are staying around) all can achieve the same midfield as my team on any given day. But if I do not sell off my players I can’t get any better wingbacks. I can try to sell off one of my backups earlier than I wanted to, but I don’t think that gets me enough money to buy what I want.
If I keep my three main IM, I may have problems with wages. I will have less than 1m in the bank at the end of the season and I am not sure how bad the wages will be, especially if my titanic guy goes up.
So I find myself wondering what the best course of action will be. If I continue to train PM like everyone else in the division seems to be doing I do not know when I will ever get the chance to promote. Not to mention I am not sure how bad the wages will be on my players when I get to that point. If I want to improve my team, it might be better to sell off one of my main IM when he next goes up and buy a couple of wingbacks, but then my midfield is not as good as the other teams in my division and I am going to have wait an even longer time to promote.
Any ideas?

i get the passables and solids a lot... i use 2 world class mids, a magnificent mid, and a WTM who's just a brilliant PM

Three supernatural midfielders will do wonders ;)
That being said, you can probably get away with a titanic and two outstanding, or maybe two WC. Or even a WC, a SN, and a Titanic (which is close to what I have and get around passable each week). Much just depends on how bad your wages are in other areas. Sometimes three WC will will be more beneficial to you from a wages standpoint.

After a strong start I went into a brutal four game stretch where I played #2, #1, #1, and #2 where I only managed to steal three points. After this stretch I focused on getting two older players some experience to convert to coaches (converting one and selling the other) - good thing too as my coach just lost leadership last week. I got the qualie I wanted to that is some extra cash and enables me to run the defender training one more week before switching to SPs for a week.
I have been sitting on a pile of money for a good part of the season as I was deciding where to upgrade. Currently have a SN defender on the market which should bring in some nice change as well. I am looking to massively upgrade my keeper and winger at least - possibly add a little midfield punch as well.
I am aiming for a top three finish next year depending on how the qualification match at the top bears out. I doubt I can beat the current team since we both heavily rely on defense.

Just finished my first full season. My series will probably look much the same next season. My most valuable player is 24, and I can beat all the teams I'll be able to beat without him, so I'm probably going to sell him. I think my current trainees will be better by the end of next season anyway, and I could really use the money as I ran up a little debt getting a decent coach. What I want out of next season is one pretty good striker and a stadium addition. That will set me up to make a run at the series the following season, though it might take me one more to get out. We'll see.

Season 28: Finished in 4th place with 21 points. 6 wins, 5 losses, 3 draws. +4 goal differential (28 for / 24 against).
Season 27: Finished in 5th place with 21 points. 7 wins, 7 losses, 0 draws. +21 goal differential (45 for / 24 against).
Season 28 was marked by extreme use of "Forward Towards Wing", some new faces, some firings, and a new coach. Overall, it was pretty dull. There was not much position jockeying after the first 3 weeks.

A good Coach will definitely help. My Passable/Leader Coach has helped my MF ratings tremendously this season.
I pulled out a Passable MF rating about midway through this season on a Normal with Out/Form/Exc IM's. My TS was Delirious, I was at home, and all my IM's had at least Pass/XP. ;)

Cool gif.
I've finished right behind Noodles in all 3 seasons. I'm thinking the next one is my turn. :)
I'm gonna sell a trainee in order to upgrade my stadium. Only planning on buying another trainee (in other words, it's all I can afford).
Noodles, I can say you're midfield is good when you MOTS. :D
It should be a very exciting season.
