Pardon the ignorance of my questions but I lost all the lotteries and need to scalp tickets for all 3 of the US first round games. I know this will be very expensive but how should I go about it?
Naturally, I want to keep the cost down, but more importantly I want to make sure that I don't get ripped off.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Well check Razorgator , from what I have heard they are very reliable , but pricy . But if you are travelling all the way across the world , and want to make sure you get tickets , that might be the best way to go .

Thanks for the responses.
Waiting until gameday doesn't work for me because I'm going all the way across the world and need the certainty of knowing I'll have tickets.
I did see Razorgator's website. How to these get tickets? Also, are there others out there too?

euroteam (http://www.euroteam.info/) seems like a better bet than razorgator because they are reselling sponsor tickets i think, which are not tied to a passport. i can't find info about that on their site but i thought i read that at one point.

Just checked this sight. They want 890 euro for (1) Category 3 ticket to the US/Italy game. That's insane! Not a pair, just one ticket. It's a shame, because there will be desperate people, like myself a few months ago, that'll pay the extra price, then feel totally ripped off!

I may try this. If I don't get in then I go to the bar to watch. I wonder how the passport # issue will work for people who buy on game day. Will it completely prevent people from getting/transferring tickets on gameday or will it be a non-issue?

I read on FIFA's website somewhere they reserve the right to check tickets and you COULD be not allowed in or delayed without ID, but I'm highly skeptical they will check tickets. Stadium security guards are not Passport experts for foreigners from all over the world. And 50,000 people in an hour? What about kids that don't have IDs? It's nuts. I really don't think they'll check. They didn't in Korea.

Interesting. I didn't know that they had the passport requirement in Korea. This is very encouraging for people who want to try to buy at the game. I also agree that checking every ticket seems logistically impossible.

This is also encouraging. I guess they may just ask for I.D. to see if I have I.D. to match the name on the ticket. I wonder if scalpers will sell phony I.D.s along with their tickets-- a secondary source of income for them.

pardon me..
but i've never done the 'buying scalped tickets' thing before O_O
and i'll definitely need to (esp if korea makes it into the other round of 16 and not the one i got a ticket to, with my luck..)..
what do i do?
how do i do it?
where do i stand?
what do i say?
whom do i approach?
do i just stand there in front of the stadium and look lost?
- _ - ;;
please help this newbie..

Just some thoughts:
- I believe there will be some 'exclusion zones' set up in the cities, meaning that people without tickets will not be allowed very close to the stadium.
- You will have to play it by ear, but I'm guessing the train stations will be a good place for commerce of all sorts to happen.
- As far as finding the scalpers, I wouldn't worry too much, they have the inventory to sell and will likely find YOU before you find them
- I always like to have a seating chart to compare the ticket to. In other words, make sure the 1000Euro VIP seats are actually in the section you expect them to be.
- Don't accept the scalpers first offer price. Bid something lower than they are asking. How much lower depends on who is playing.
- Keep an eye out for counterfeit tickets. I know this is hard to do, but look for things like the chip and (if there is one) the hologram. Study the scans of real tickets people have posted.
- If you have a choice, scalp a ticket with a pre-printed name of someone who is the same nationality as you! Trying to pass for Jose Feliciano or Luca Braze may be tough. If you can find a Kim, you're golden! (No disrespect intended).
:)
Best of luck to you and your team.

Any idea what the cost over face value will be on game day? Anyone have expereince in Korea/Japan '02?
I know it's not easy to estimate, but I might be willing to see a non-US game live if it didn't put a huge dent in my pocket.

Just a gut feel, but I would look at Razorgator and Euroteam prices, and take 40-50%. EG US v Italy Cat III is 637E, which would on gameday go for E320. The nice thing about the scalpers' websites is they give you great feel for the relative prices on each game, which will IMO hold true on game day, if you know what I mean.

Since the passport number is not on the ticket it is the name that matters. I believe that the only way to change the name is through the FIFA "Transfer portal". To transfer via the portal you must have a valid reason for the transfer, but besides that FIFA refunds the face value to the seller and charges the buyer the face value.
These are hurdles for scalpers and you can't jump these hurdles on game day. (The portal cannot be used for transfers within 2 days of the game). As we have been saying, if you buy on game day then you have to hope that you get into the game with another person's name on the ticket.
If you buy from a scalper today, do you have to pay the scalp price plus the face value on the ticket when you transfer the name in the portal? (100 Euros for Category 1). Also, in the portal, can the scalper select the person who will buy the ticket, or does FIFA send all return tickets into a pool where anyone can buy them? In other words, does the seller get to pick the buyer in the portal?

The transfer portal allows you to transfer the ticket. For example, I have tickets to transfer. I give a reason and then the information of the person I am transferring to. Thus they do not go into a pool. If the transfer does not work they go back to me. Also, FIFA does not charge the new person. You have to pay the 10 euro transfer fee. You have to arrange for the person you are transferring to to pay you directly.

Just walking by groups of people with one finger up (to signify you need one ticket) will get scalpers attention. I would say go around and just hear the prices for a while because they often drop dramatically once game time nears (I did this for some NCAA tournament games). If you don't hear prices dropping or they seem to be going up then you can always jump at them then, but they almost always plummet right around game time.

Thanks! This makes buying a scalped ticket very feasible as long as FIFA accepts the reason for the transfer.
