Bush 'planning nuclear Iran strike'
Article in New Yorker says that U.S. government is preparing a massive campaign to neutralize Iranian nuclear sites. Iranian President Ahmadinejad is compared in the White House to Hitler
Ynet
The U.S. government is planning to carry out massive bombardment against Iran and using bunker-busting nuclear bombs in order to destroy facilities and development centers in which nuclear weapons exist. These details will be exposed in a new report as part of an investigation in the New Yorker, to be publicized April 17.
...
P.S.
I personally view the report as mere propaganda fed to Seymour Hersh by people who are trying to scare Iran to submission. I doubt the US is that dumb to really consider using nukes against Iran. If such weapons were used against Iran, I would not want to live anywhere close to Israel. Iran would then indeed wipe Israel off the map instantly in response, come hell or high water. At the same time, Iran would destroy every oil facility in the region and cut off oil supplies from the Persian Gulf.

Not to worry. In that situation, you wouldn't be living.

If the US attacked Iran, Iran would retaliate against Israel. You state this is as if it were a rational military policy.
Thank you for demonstrating how completely ********ing insane you and your nation's leadership are.

How? I thought Iran didn't have nukes yet. If it's in a conventional war.....I like the Israelis' chances.

We won't use nukes first. Ain't gonna happen.

Precisely. The notion that a non-nuclear armed and post-nuclear attack Iran could wipe its own irradiated arse, let alone "wipe Israel off the map" is so far beyond absurd that the English language does not offer any suitable words to express the absurdity in question.
Although I'm sure Farsi does. The Iranians, after all, invented absurd.

Well the whole hypothetical starts with the U S using nukes to prevent the proliferation of nukes, so sanity is kinda already in the rearview by the time an Iranian response is considered, innit?

Of course, all this ignores the world's worst kept secret, the Israeli nukes. And you better believe that unlike Iran, they actually have something to throw and something to throw it with.
Then again, though, you'd assume that Iran would use the same strategy against Israel as they did against Iraq. The "there's gotta be a limit to how many bullets they have so we'll throw millions of poorly armed soldiers at them" strategy.

US is not capable of attacking Iran right now , lets face it Iran right now is controlling Iraq not the US and Iran is more influential in the region then the US could ever dream of . If the US attack Iran , the mullahs will respond by making Iraq and Afghanistan a living hell , and then they will use Hamas and Hezbollah in Israel. I know GW Bush is one of the dumbest leaders ever but I don’t think he is that stupid to attack another country before he leaves office, maybe the next president will attack Iran but I doubt Bush will start another war.

US is not capable of attacking Iran right nowThe US is not capable of invading, but it is very capable of attacking. And if Iran tried to retaliate with terrorist attacks, they are going to quickly discover that sometimes the direct method has certain advantages over the indirect method.

If such weapons were used against Iran, I would not want to live anywhere close to Israel. Neither would I. What with all the free oil and open ski slopes in Iran, I'm moving to Bandar Abbas! Iran would then indeed wipe Israel off the map instantly in response, come hell or high water.Good idea! Because that will certainly prevent them from ordering America to attack Iran a second time and, with all the Americans now living there, that would NOT be good!

I know GW Bush is one of the dumbest leaders ever but I don’t think he is that stupid to attack another country before he leaves office, maybe the next president will attack Iran but I doubt Bush will start another war. The US is more than capable of attacking militarily. It would be difficult and probably ill-advised to invade, but there are a lot of attacks that don't include a ground war. The US Navy and Air Force are in place in the region andvery capable.
IMO long before it comes to shoting at each other, the western allies and Russia will embargo certain types of trade with Iran. Unfortunately given the leadership in Iran, this is likely to lead to a "bunker mentality" rather than an examination of their acts that have led up to the embargo declaration. This makes military activity more, rather than less likely. Precision strikes against the nuclear infrastructure carried out jointly by the US and it's allies would be the most likely course of actions, similar to the PGM strikes in Bosnia.
Iran, like Iraq before her, really has little capability for credible strikes against non-bordering states. If I lived in Tel Aviv, I wouldn't be at all worried about direct attack by Iran.

This is all hot air from the bankrupt policy set up by the neocons. Pro-Israeli neocon evil doers all taking their last breath. The best part is that their own evil intentions have repeatedly worked against themselves in exposing their true color.
btw,the direct talks between US and Iran is about to start on Tuesday or Wednesday, this BS is supposed to give the pro-Israel supporters a `we are doing something`, and at the same time, trying to create leverage for the talks. Just notice the timing of it all.

As others have already stated....you seem to be confusing attack with invasion. If you think the U.S. is not capable of the former.......

I wonder how Iraqi Shiites would react to us dropping a tactical nuke on Iran?
Reason #438 why Iraq was a stupid pointless war...we've just created 130,000 hostages at the mercy of our Iran policy.
