This weekend it's the 197th Munich derby as Bayern "travels" to TSV1860 in an "away" game, is this not the best derby in the world?
For those not up to date on the long history of the Munich derby, www.fcbayern.de has the facts and figures up.

It was a derby in the first half. In the 2nd one, it was merely lambs being led to the slaughter.

I dont know i think the first half was very choppy with little skill on either side. Both were playing cautious and it was rather dull. As far as the best derby, I think you have been missing out because this year the Manchester derbies have been the best by far.

The Manchester derbies have been fun, but then again City and United don't play in the same house, do they. I'm a bundesliga man, the premiership is okay, but when you two teams who play at the same place (and will continue to with the allianz arena) there is more at stake.

I also think that the München Derby is probably the best derby out there in football, look at all of the history behind it. But then again I might be a little biased (see my fav team). I was a little thrown off however, why were some of the stands empty in the Olympiastadion? I mean I realize it was very cold in München, but still, I'd kill to go to that match sitting here in Seattle.

I was at the match on saturday, and although there were some empty seats near the front there was still a big crowd there, over 60,000. And yes it was very, very cold!
I thought 1860 let themselves down badly by conceding 5, they just fell apart after the second goal. however that should never have stood by the way as there was a clear foul in midfield which the ref decided to just ignore. Up to that he was giving freekicks for anything and everything so that was a real sucker punch. Seemed like he didn't want to interrupt a nice Bayern move!

64.000 according to kicker, but I can't believe that. On TV it looked like about 15.000 empty seats.

Yes but at the Olympic Stadium a lot of people stand right up at the very back instead of sitting.

Maybe I should use this thread to ask this question, since I don't want to start a thread that would contribute to clogging up the bandwith. Does anyone know if the two clubs are part-owners of the Allianz Arena and how would a groundshare like this work?
I don't know of any precedent for this. Usually in a groundshare, one club owns the ground and the other one rents it. Another way is if a municipality owns the stadium, like you see in Milan and Rome. A third way would be if another private party owns the stadium and two clubs rent it. That's what happened after Crystal Palace lost ownership of Selhurst Park when the club went into administration(bankruptcy-equivalent in Britain) while Wimbledon continued to rent it.
But I've never heard of a case where two private entities are co-owners of a sporting ground in football. I would appreciate it if someone would bring up another occasion of this happening.
