of late my bowlers haven't been performing up to scratch... things not going so well after losing the toss...

End of Over 11: 54-0, runrate=4.91

need to win handily to keep my hold on NRR. Don't want to have to play a qualifyer.

End of Over 11: 30-4, runrate=2.73
Rose 1-1-0-0
Futcher* 5 (26 balls)
Gibb 0 (7 balls)

and my bowlers have decided they are just going to throw the ball down the wicket, instead of trying to get wickets. oh well. i'll win this one.

Bot stomp. 378-77. My second batter hit 187, third hit 131. Fun stuff.

Also, looking at our stats since they fixed the inflated reporter's summaries, I'm much less surprised that I beat the series leaders a couple weeks ago.

not a wicket in sight...

End of Over 16: 70-0, runrate=4.38

but with the spinners operating we've slowed the run rate in the last 8overs...

Coutts 4-0-11-0
Calcutt 4-0-12-0

one more spinner to come, my allrounder.

i was pissed about the ratings thing for like 5 minutes because my spinner put up an exquiste rating. But then i realized it is all relative, so it doesn't really matter.

What a difference spinners make. In the 11 overs since spin has been introduced they went from:

End of Over 10: 49-0, runrate=4.90
to
End of Over 21: 83-0, runrate=3.95

decent... no wickets, but decent.

3 spinners... as soon as one of my quicks came back the rr jumped back up, but its not too bad... anything less than 260 should allow me to increase my NRR.

End of Over 32: 137-1, runrate=4.28

I played a guy I destroyed at his grounds - this time he manages to bowl me out for a 159 - ouch! Needless to say - I lost badly.

They've accelerated in the last 10. I hate it when that happens. Still, anything less than 300 and I should be able to pull through iirc he doesn't have good spinners.

Norse sets a target of 275-6 for Saint Barth Blondes. This is going to be interesting, we'll see how my bowling holds up...

Seargeant paced the offense with 118 on 110, with Surman and Pook providing some crucial late-innings strike rate. I had Surman set on attacking, and coming in in the last 10, he posted a SR of 200 (with 28 runs on 14 balls) before flaming out.

and there goes the promotion campaign... down 2 wickets early on in the run chase.

End of Over 6: 26-2, runrate=4.33, reqrunrate=5.55 (269-2)

the good news is that Owens is at the crease... he can win it all by himself.

Surprised Rovers went for it - really high-risk strategy. If it had backfired, he could easily have tumbled into fifth and had to play a qualification match. He still might, if he's particularly unlucky in the last two games. And his fitness will be shot for the rest of the season, while he's playing guys also trying to avoid fifth place.

my fitness is low too coming of the GFI against Martinique 2 weeks ago, but I'm still very disappointed in this result. this is horrid... not even a qualifyer for promotion... I'm gutted. I'm also going to spend big and buy an allrounder to end all allrounders as soon as I can find the money for him (I've got 850K now) and when I do I will wreak all kinds of havok on this series next season (hopefully).

Again, I'm REALLY REALLY Gutted... this hurts almost as much as a real life loss.

Beat the fifth place team to stay 4 points back from first place with a better NRR. If I can beat the 4th place team next week (and I should), I'll be playing Carib Beer at home for first place and promotion into the West Indies Premier in the final week of the season.
