And I am a HUGE Bayern Fan. It's my team but I think it's gotta be Lehmann this time around.
As for Germany being knocked out because of the goal keeper, I think you guys are dreaming. The defense is what we really need to worry about.
Agree, only when I see here someone question Kahns previous achievements, well the I an calling that person a moron a**

THE BAD THING WITH BAYERN FANS IS THAT THEY DWELL TO MUCH WITH PAST .
KAHN HAS WON THAT BECAUSE HE WAS PLAYING FOR A BETTER TEAM THAN LEHMANN. AND THE LEAGUE ISN'T THAT TOUGH. LETS BE GLOBAL
This has nothing to do with Kahn fan or not.
This has to do with respect.
I also donīt like him very much,
but i respect the performances he had shown.
I have never said Klinsmann decision is wrong,
i only said, Olli Kahn was a world class player,
so heīs no loser.
The fact you mentioned with Klos is right,
thatīs the problem in Germany,
too many good keepers.
Everybody has his favorites,
mine is currently Weidenfeller,
your is Enke (as far as i get you right).
Thatīs ok, but no reason to call
an opponent a loser.
Sure, Kahn has also lost finals with his teams,
but call a player, that didnīt have it ?!
So letīs get back to a normal discussion. :)
I didn't really care who Klinsmann would chose. I think Lehmann did play great this season and certainly deserves it but at the same time I feel bad for Kahn.
It was his big dream to play at the WC at home in Germany.
I just hope the media won't make this bigger as it is.

Yea, right. I can hardly wait to watch the late RTL News tonight.

The problem is not too many good keepers. That's a blessing. The problem is that traditionally once someone becomes 'The' German keeper, he keeps that job unquestioned until he retires. German national keeper has traditionally been up there with Pope for job security. That's why I like this move. It breaks up that old system and adds more incentive for players to fight for their positions.

I'm happy Lehmann's in. I'm more happy that all the wrangling and decision-making may end soon.

Kahn served Germany well. [...]
Give credit where credit is due.
Also accept that in this moment, Lehmann is the better choice.
My opinion exactly. Kahn was a great goalkeeper, for a long time the best there is probably. And he's still a very good one for sure! Great performances for Germany, especially in 2002.
But his mistakes against Cologne haven't been the first ones this season, although someone claimed that. Lehmann on the other hand seems to be in the form of his life and played a great season after a mediocre one last year.
The WC is this summer, Klinsmann had to pick the one who is better now.

Totally agree with that. Imo Kahn also had to wait too long to become the #1 after Köpke.

No Real Suprise For Me.
Somehow i think Klinsi always secretly favoured Lehmann. Anyhow, we should accept the decision and get behind the team. It wont be Lehmanns fault when we go out in the 1/8.
Absolutely.

How soon people forget the 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Italy. I believe Lehmann was in goal for that performance...

Yea and he was less of fault in all 4 of those goals than Kahn was for the only goal against US...
But regardless, Kahn is the best backup keeper a country could ever have. :)

Kahn also got three goals against vs. Mexico and Australia and 4 versus Romania and Lehmann was in goal when Germany drew 0:0 against France.
It doesn't mean anything.

I'm saddened to see Olli in the Nr. 2 slot. But Lehmann is a great keeper. I still think Olli would've done fine, however.

and that denies a chance to the best keepers. at the moment some say is Enke. but after lehmannna and kahn retires the replacement will be old , above 25. i have seen teams and countries which have succeded with 20 year olds keepers. my problem here is age. i dont like goalkeepers who are more than 34
do you?

Usually goalkeepers peak at an age much longer than field players. 33 is about the age where GKs are at their most optimum.
