Sorry, I needed to vent, I'm in cool mode again.

Ok, I know there are different kind of salvadorans living in the US, and there are a lot of bad persons that give a bad name to my country but that's another issue, I for one, travel quite often to ythe US and just for business, so I don't know NOTHING about MLS, I'm being honest, I have a lot of knowledge about european and southamerican football but not even who are starters in the MLS, so I noticed the tranfer of Cheyo to DCU by the local newspapers, i even thought to come to this forum and ask what was going on, what was the feeling about this signing but it seems like some fellow countrymen behaved so bad that the fans are afraid to even go to the stadium  can someone give me a short flashback to know why is this?

Yup. Quaranta is Q1, because he was here first I suppose. Just easier to type than their full surnames. We here at bigsoccer take lazy to the extreme:)

I thought that tonight's experience was much better than those of the past. Maybe I am wrong, maybe I missed some things, but all I can remember is thinking that this was much better than I figured it would be.

I hope that continues. It would be great to have a full, passionate house. And a win once in a f***ing while.

Basically, the Salvadorans have been pissed because of the trading of Raul Diaz Arce many years ago and some less than tactful statements made by the GM. Their reaction has been to come to DC games only when the opposing team had a Salvadoran on the team so they could root against DC and jeer Etcheverry and Moreno. Most unpleasant when coupled with poor behavior (excessive drunkeness, public urination, fights in the parking lot and stands).

There would be more, but, well, you know...

My opinion is that the reaction from the community is not deserving of special treatment. I would treat them like I'd treat a child of mine who misbehaved to get his way. Ignore him until he behaves. But, others don't feel the same and maybe he really was the best out there given the price, etc.

There were a couple Salvadorans who made there way into BB/SE and cheered their asses off for DC. I say welcome back.

Quintanilla looks better than advertised.

Why not? You should support your country and its players.

I hope he was brought in to boost attendance. I'm sure he's qualified, but MLS needs to do everything that it can to improve attendance.

I meant I'm not defending and "x" player or my fellow countrymen bad behavior I just wanted an explanation and to be totally honest i just know that Cheyo came of the U-17 NT nothing more! I'm not that sure what position he plays!

It is a very simple assement here. There were no problems to report last night. Now will that be the case in the future, we will see. I think the increased security needs to stay in place for the next few matches. Then we can say yes or no if it is needed at that point.

Mario I also think that US soccer fans have some different expectations about the make up and behavior of crowds than folks in Europe or Latin America. MLS has worked very hard to try and capture a "family market" and has put considerable effort to attract those families that have children playing youth soccer. The crowds tend to be largely middle class and for many it is a pleasant diversion for the evening, not a matter of life and death as it is for so many hardcore fans.

I have been to games throughout Europe and Latin America and in my experience it is a very different crowd that shows up to games. Several times I have been locked into sections, escorted by police, etc. for games. I had never really thought of attending a football match as a "family event" until MLS began.

The Sallies in 211 were only cheering for Q2 last night. They also cheered for Chacon when he came into the game. Chacon has expressed an interest in playing full time. Right now, he is a sub
at NE. Maybe ....

If Q2 is El Salvador's hope for the future, the USMNT will not have to worry about them in qualifying

In the first row of Section 120 were a couple of guys wearing the colors of Q2's former club.

They were awesome - they sang with LaNorte, they cheered for United and by the end of the night one of them was wearing a United tshirt over his CD Aquila jersey.

I witnessed no problems at all nor did I feel the least bit menaced.

There was definitely more security than usual - in the form of DC police officers so maybe that helped keep the hooligan element in check.

Whatever, it was a great atmosphere and our new striker played his little heart out.

Will always welcome all those who really support D.C. United

Barra Brava
Will NEVER welcome those who come to see and cheer just ONE player.

I'm happy to say that the whole ES thing was a non-issue last night. Everyone was in control last night(security included.) even after some joker set of some firecrackers in the BB/SE. I hope it continues, now if we could just put the biscuit in the basket.......
