PLAYER OF THE SEASON (so far)
Its gotta be Gabs, but thats just my opinion :) .
I gotta say it's Yossi Benayoun. I don't think any player has come into his own as much this season and really stepped up to the way the premiership game is played. He's made an indelible mark in East London and I think he'll be around for years to come. He's given excellent force to midfield and has gone above and beyond his duty many times to scores goals when we thought chances were over. He plays his heart out and I really appreciate that, so that's why he gets my vote.
It really was a toss up between him and Anton for me, but I really think Benayoun has been the more important of the two overall. Of course I'm not underestimating the importance of Etherington or Harewood, they rank up there as well, but when it comes down to it I think that Yossi has been the Hammers through and through this season and he'll have a great future at our club.

Gabby for me too. Not too far behind, I'd place Anton and Yossi. That's not just my opinion..... I'm always right, being a guitarist and all that. :D

Gabs all the way, followed by Anton and Mullins - very under rated player IMO.

I have been tempted to say Yossi in this poll but THB having watched him in some of the more recent games I have found him making a few mistakes and bad decisions which, at times, have cost us. This doesn't make him a bad players of course, I think he is great, but I think it is possibly a sign that he is still adjusting to a new club and, moreso, the English game where he has less time on the ball and less space to run at defenders. These nit picky details asside, he has had a good first season for us.
So my vote goes for Anton simply because I think he is the most improved player this season. Harewood, Ethers, Sherringham and NRC have all upped their game for the PL but generally have only done what we already new they could do. Anton, however, has improved many aspects of his game. Defending, pressing forward and (yes:eek: ) scoring. I think he got his first ever goal for us this season didn't he?
The only other player to compete with this level of improvement is Mullins who has surprised us all with how well he has 'cut it' in the PL.

Gabbs has to be top with Mullins and Anton giving him a real chase.

I'd probably go for Gabbs. There must be a lot of EPL clubs wondering how they didn't get him. Anton a very close second.
The great thing that is apparent is that it is difficult to really single any one player out, which just tells you how damn good this team is as a team and what a combined effort it has been so far.

1. Harewood (please raise your hand if you thought he could score 14 goals in the PL)
2. Anton
3. Yossi
footnote to my selection of Harewood...
Anton and Danny have done a solid job in defense this season, BUT, the list of clubs who have given up more goals than West Ham is short and hardly stellar (W. Brom, Boro, Pompey, Fulham, and Sunderland).
However, on the attacking side, here's the list of clubs that have scored more goals than the Hammers: ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool.
So my hat's off to Harewood and Pardew for pressing the attack and making the Hammers arguably the most exciting club to watch this season.

Afew weeks ago i would have agreed with Gabbi, but he's played terrible in his last few, silly mistakes,it has to be Yossi or Anton, yossi remindes me of Alan Devonshire, the way he runs at the defence,(for those old enough to remember).

Its Harewood for me. He produced the big goals while under pressure and receiving idiotic abuse. Yossi has both created and scored some fabulous goals this season. The pass that sprung Zamora at Man City for the late goal was a thing of beauty. As was the cheeky chip vs Fulham MAMA MIA! However, Yossi had a few spells this season where he woud dissappear and do nothing for 2-3 games.
1) Harewood
2) Yossi
3) Anton

Yossi for me too. Not that I don't think the whole defence has done a great job this year, I just think it is so much harder in the Premiership to be creative and carve out those goal scoring opportunities that are so rare at this level. Also give mention to Matty who gives us a balenced look and gives us a wide threat on both wings.
I would like to add it is such a pleasure to be talking about so many young talented Hammers, we should be good for years to come.

mullins is not underated...
i think some of his passes are quite frankly embaressing
i thought when noble played he looked good and very comfortable on the ball when he played instead of mullins, i dont know why he doesnt play (he might be on loan i think)
i think yossi benayoun has been west hams best player he is an excellant passer, and is very talented,
west ham got a great deal for only 2.5 million pounds
my dad is friends with yossi's dad and ive followed him closely throughout his whole a career, he is a great person and a great player
next would be marlon harewoord, personally i didnt believe he had the skill for the premiership but now i no that he is a very good player
i also think its very hard to say there is one best player because the truth is the whole team has been very good and not because of one individual its because they play as a unit.

Noble showed flashes of quality when he got a run out, but when he was forced to play for extended periods he was clearly overmatched. Hopefully he will be ready for the first team next year.

The loan deal with Hull has been terminated due to his injury and Noble is now back at WH, Hull intend to approach WH next season.

Gabbidon, Mullins or Harewood. If anybody else gets a sniff of it, there is no justice.
