do u guys thinks than the curent Serbia & Montenegro nat squad is better than
an all former-yugoslavian team?

Another way to put it, do you think of an Croatia/Serbia & Montenegro/Bosnia Herzegovina all star team?

Would that team beat This serbian team?

I ask these because i just read a book by Vladimir Dimitrijevic called "life is round ball", a beautiful book that all football fans should read and he writes mostly from the Yugoslavian perception ofthe match, specially of that time when Yugoslavia and Hungary played perhaps the nicest football of Europe. i'm interested in how the game has evolved after the partition of Yugoslavia.

In my outright opinion, yes an all-star former yugoslavia team would beat the current serbian team because there are players in croatia and slovenia which would certainly be an asset. I think that if the war in the early 1990's hadn't happened Yugoslavia would be considered a much stronger football power. After all back in 1992 Crvena Zvezda had just won the Champions League and our team was one of the strongest in qualifying for the World Cup which we were banned from. The war ruined our beautiful country and destroyed our football team, the area is on a slow road to full recovery and the fact that both Croatia and Serbia have strong teams is essential to recovery of the seperate nations.

Well if there wasnt a war, and if Yugoslavia stayed on, the world champion squad of World Cup 1998 would look like this:

------------------------Suker---------------Mijatovic------------------
............................(Real Madrid)..............(Real Madrid).......................

--------------------------------Prosinecki------------------------------
....................................(Real Madrid/Barcelona).................................

-----Jarni-----------------------Boban-------------------Stojkovic------
(Juventus/Real Madrid)............(AC Milan)...............(Olympique Marseille)..

--------------------------------Jugovic----------------------------------
..........................................(Juventus)..............................................

---------Stimac-------------------Bilic---------------------Mihajlovic------
..........(West Ham)..................(Everton).........................(Inter Milan)......

----------------------------------Ladic----------------------------------
........................................(Dinamo Zagreb)........................................

The strongest squad of its time. Not even Brazil, Argentina, Netherlands or France could assemble a team like that one.
