View Full Version : Do USSF tickets count towards FIFA 7-game rule?

I know they are supposed to, but has anyone run into a ticket limit problem ordering on the FIFA site as a result of already having purchased tickets to 7 individual games? I was allocated tix to all 3 USA games thru USSF, and I have had the good fortune of getting 4 additional matches via phase 3 and 4 thru FIFA. However, in those 7 matches, I bought tix to 2 games that I can't go to, hoping to trade them (haven't had much luck there). If I try and go after another match via FIFA's portal, will I feel Sepp's rath? Also, if I put up the tickets from one of the matches for resale, does that free me up? Any stories of ticket-limit problems would be helpful. thx.

Why on earth would you buy tickets for 2 more games when you already have 7 games and you know you won't go to these 2 games? Isn't that selfish to say the least? There are some people who don't have any tickets.
I do hope you feel "Sepp's wrath" and they cancel all your tickets:rolleyes:

I don't know for sure but I would bet they will match passport numbers with orders bought directly through the FIFA site. This sounds like a potentially big loophole and I would be shocked if no one at FIFA has identified this as an issue. It's not only the USSF but all the other 31 national organizations as well.

I have tickets to 7 games altogether. Not 9.

Your ill will is unappreciated.

I don't have ill will. I just have a problem with people trying to get more tickets than their fair share. Sorry if I misundertood you, however, you were still implying you want to get more than 7 tickets (the purpose of your post)!
If you don't want those 2 games just sell'em back and try to get the games you want within the allowed limit.
Nothing personal against you ;)

What are the 2 games you want to get rid of?

I asked the ticketing center this question by phone (not that I have 7 tickets - I'm just optimistic) and they told me resale would free up a slot. She said the "system" would not allow you to purchase more than your limit -- maybe in the same way your app gets rejected when you try to buy a TST when you already have a single ticket?

But, if I was lucky enough to have 5 or 6 games that I wanted, I would not risk it -- if you think not having any games is a bummer, imagine having 5 quality games and your trip planned, then finding your account wiped clean (insert FIFA paranoia here).

I've got USSF conditional tickets, which won't actually be usable unless the US advances out of its group. Anyone know how do those figure into the 7 ticket limit?

Anyone....Would it be your conclusion that having 3 tickets allocated thru FIFA first and then just recently 3 tickets allocated through USSF (both to the same game) would be required to:

1) Resale 2 of the 3 FIFA tickets and keep the 3 USSF tickets....leaving the four ticket max tied to me (the applicant)

or

2) Transfering 3 of my duplicate tickets to family members via USSF or FIFA (but still having six tickets ordered by me (as the applicant)

My concern is keeping six total tickets attached to me (the orderer on both sets of tickets) when my understanding the FIFA limit to one match is four. I guess it depends on if USSF transmits the applicant data to FIFA, or just the names for each ticket.

Anyone else in this situation?

Here's a new one for you. I got four US v. Ghana tickets through the USSF and now just learned I've been given four US v. Ghana tickets from the conditional ticket program. I have a brother that wants to go to the Ghana game that I can transfer the tickets to. I never thought the conditional ticket program would turn up any tickets.

Apparently, the USSF offers a transfer window that is open thru May 8th. That is certainly news to me!

Here's details:

His ill will comes from people like you doing this:

...which means you have eight tickets (more than 4 per game) tied to your name as the applicant. You can only transfer the name of the ticket holders, not the applicant. The risk of walking in with a ticket that has been invalidated due to FIFA crossing checking the list may be greater than walking with a valid ticket with someone's else name....

That explains why he/she'd buy tickets to a match they couldn't attend.

Reminds me of the jacknut in DC that bought blocks of tickets from the USSF for Project Mayhem - ostensibly for US Supporters - for the 9/1/01 USA/HON WCQ, then turned around and sold most of them on eBay.
