three more months without Frei, no good. i just hope that this won't effect the team as much as i think it will

How would it? They've played the entire season to this point without him.

We are playing with our scoring leader. Petric.

Frei was LAST SEASON'S scoring leader. He hasn't played a minute this season.

He can't be missed if he hasn't played. We have guys on the team now who have never played with Frei.

You might miss him, but I can't. You can't miss what you haven't had and we haven't had Frei this season.

Sure, I dream of what Frei and Petric will do when Frei returns, but we can't fret about that. One man, even Frei, isn't going to turn around the problems this team has.

The problems are in their heads.........

that's what i was trying to say. turen the team around, no, but maybe those two could point the team to the right direction, make an example to follow of themselves, atleast i think so, could be wrong

You guys are probably right but when Frei returns maybe Alex will score the extra goal we are always missing... And I surely hope so :p

I think he can and probably will, but as long as he's out, it won't do any good to cry about his being missing. We still have a job to do with or without him.

Are there any of the Swiss-based fans still out there?

I ask because there are some disturbing rumors flying around about Alexander Frei and I can't find anything concrete.

The rumors are anywhere from he's not healing properly, may need more surgery and might possibly miss the entire season and Euro 2008, to his career may be over.

Can someone find out what is going on? If these rumors are untrue, I'd love to know that so I can settle down.

The rumors are bullshit. I have a "Bild" interview with Frei that I translated.

Here it is:

Frei Promises: “I’ll Be Back At It In January!”

He is THE unluckiest person of the Bundesliga’s first half. Dortmund’s Swiss star striker Alexander Frei (28)

A hip operation in May, two torn muscles right behind one another in late summer and in November calf surgery. Frei’s first half record? Zero appearances.

Bild: How are you Mr. Frei?

Frei: Good, thank you! I’ve been doing rehabilitation training at home since Monday. I am already back on the treadmill, can jog 20 or 30 minutes easily and ride a bike.

Bild: When are you starting your comeback?

Frei: My goal is 4 January. I will be back at the start of training. Then I’ll be back at it! We will see if I am at 90 percent or just at 60 percent, but what is important is that I will be back with the team.

Bild: How have you taken the last BVB month?

Frei: When we were beating Bielefeld 6-1 and I wasn’t a part of the team, I nearly went insane!

Bild: And what do you have to say about the BVB crisis?

Frei: Naturally, it is not easy to see deal with such a situation when you are inactive. I do not wish to say more…..

Bild: You will have been out for more than half a year. What can we expect from you in the Bundesliga’s second half?

Frei: My lust for football ten times bigger after this long break. I feel like a kid who cannot wait to play ball again. And I promise you. I will be stronger than before!

Bild: Are you afraid of missing the European Championship Tournament in your homeland?

Frei: Nonsense! I’ve spoken with Köbi Kuhn (Swiss Head Coach) about my situation plenty. Of course the European Championships are in the back of my mind, but my employer is BVB. When I achieve here, national duty will come automatically.

Bild: What are your intentions with BVB?

Frei: I will set goals when I can play again. But we cannot be satisfied continuing to play for places 9 through 15.

This past Saturday, Roman Weidenfeller underwent shoulder surgery. He is expected to be out three months.

I feel Jens Lehmann is just what we need. He will provide more leadership on the pitch and to this day, I still believe Lehmann helped Weidenfeller get better more than Teddy deBeer ever has.

This injury to Weidenfeller just might be a blessing in disguise.

Lehmann will have the incentive of fighting to protect his national team spot. I think not only will he give us inspired performances, but he will put a boot in the asses of our defenders too.....

Weidenfeller had looked to have learned it from Lehmann. Then this season, it just seemed to be "gone."

I hope Lehmann will not only bring that back to us, but to Weidenfeller after his injury break too......
