Li Tie could still play in Europe, in a lower English division or a lesser Euro league, but there is no present market for him. He didn't play in a single top flight match this season and most teams will view him as a huge risk. He is lucky, though, because he has an MNT coach who adores him (considering they've been together since he was 12 or so) and so he can take a risk on staying in Europe and not getting the minutes without worrying he'll be dropped from the MNT lineup. As long as Zhu's the coach, there will be a spot for Li Tie.

If he did come back to China, I think CFF's assessment is way off. Beijing would have no problem putting together a decent package for him. I'm not sure how much interest Dalia would have in him, but they could sign him. It wouldn't be easy for Shenyang, especially if a bidding war would start, but I could imagine them digging up the money to sign their native son, it would be a way to get butts in the stadium and drum up excitement. LiaoZu can't hold onto players once they reach the age 22 or so, but if Benshan gives up all his money from his next tv show or movie, then maybe they could buy him, but that's not really a reality. In Shandong he can hook up with his old friend Dayu and Zheng Zhi...

At this point its sad, if he were to come back, I don't think it would be as hotly contested as Datou's preseason move. How different their careers have been since they both signed on at Everton...

And I don't see how the two careers have diverged that much. A CSL championship can't be viewd as an great achievement if you're an ambitious, "talented" Chinese international. Being a captain is in name only if no one respects you. Plus, a few more red cards and Li Weifeng will start to achieve Li Yi's level of national infamy.

I agree. Li Weifeng's name in China isn't a lot more respected than Li Yi's. The CSL as a whole isn't highly regarded. I think some, like I, repect Li Tie more so than Li Weifeng, just because Li Tie is in Everton.

Anyhow, any news of new Chinese players going abroad as the Euro season is coming to an end and new season about to start?

Which is sort of the point I've got at in the past, too long abroad and so too disconnected from the actual thinking in China. Li Tie has done nothing at Everton in 2 years, in the meantime, Datou has led his team to the Chinese title and a ACL semifinal(?) and he's led China to the AC Final.

As for this question, we're a long way before discussing this. If some Chinese players really do well in the next few months, perhaps they can get a look at from a Euro club, but with this being a World Cup summer, I highly doubt you will see much interest shown in Chinese players.

Going abroad is. I think of the title as being more of a team thing.

He marshalled the backline well in the AC. That's about it. Ever since then it's been downhill for him in the eyes of any non-Shenzhen, Chinese football fan (minus chengb02).

The sad thing is, you need to go to foriegn websites to order one. It's almost impossible to find an authentic one in China. This is so ironic.

A clear club vs. country row will occur between Antwerp/Manchester United and China regarding this Toulon Cup. Dong Fangzhuo's last club match is on May 7th. Afterwords, Antwerp (hopefully) will be engaged in a four team promotion playoffs.

While I can't speak for most areas right now, in Beijing and Shanghai it is NOT hard to find an authentic Chinese national team jersey.
