We'll see how long that holds up.
By the way, Chicago Rhythm and Empire S.C. appear on the same list.

Any other names???Actually, trademark protection for both Toronto FC and Toronto Northmen were also applied for with the CIPO on March 16, 2006. However, neither of those names appear to have been registered with the USPTO.

Inter Toronto FC . . . . .
THE HORROR!
There is still time to stop it!! A "barrage" of emails to MLS!!
Making sure it is "leaked" to the press so they can make fun of the name too!:)
Though I think with it being on Big Soccer, the press already knows and may just not care..:o

Man this sucks. Toronto City FC was the way to go for the following reasons:
1. It’s “Euro”, but it’s not to closely associated with a big club, like “Inter’ is. Having “Inter” in the teams name is an obvious analogy to Inter Milan - trying to build off their brand. But "City" could refer to any number of teams, no one’s going to accuse MLSE of trying to play off the success of Manchester City, they’re hardly a big team.
2. Has a history in the city - the old Toronto City FC of the 60s.
3. It can’t be construed as being too closely associated with one ethic group. One could interpret “Inter” as trying to appeal too exclusively to the Italian community.
4. Toronto City FC is catchy as all hell.
