Deschamps for France!

Listen, things are winding down on the everyone hates Raymond experiment. No matter how things end in Germany this summer, I think it's safe to assume that Raymundo is gone.

With PLG taking the Rangers job (WTF is that all about?), and Didier Deschamps laying low since being forced out of the calamity we now call Monaco..... You have to think that he's positioning himself for the France job. To me there aren't too many candidates, him, Laurent Blanc and maybe Claude Puel?!?!?

The FFF isn't going to hire a foreigner, so that certainly tightens up the field. Too me it seems obvious that Didier is the next France manager, but is it?

I think DD is the right guy, too and we're not alone at that. But the thing with Didier is that he is keen to manage abroad (at least this is what he said). So FFF's got some convincing to do.

About Blanc, he's too inexperienced as far as I'm concerned.

Tigana is clear for the job now...Yet, I don't see Deschamps turning down the opportunity if he's still available.

I'm fine with Tigana, but would prefer DD. Tigana is a solid manager none the less.

I just had a weird thought today. Does Domenech deserve credit for keeping Pires out of the team? He's really hardly doing anything at Arsenal anymore and it looks like he's headed for retirement after his contract expires.

I have to admit that I was one of the people that was calling for his return to the NT a while ago but I think Raymond was right about that descision.

I still dont know about Govou over Ribery though.

It will clearly never happen soon, but I wonder if Wenger will ever want to be NT coach.

Pires was and is done. Would you give Raymundo credit for not calling up Ribery, or Evra? I for one would not. The guy is letting the stars make decisions for him, some are right, but most are wrong.

Ray's already got Gallas, Abidal and Silvestre. Why would he need Evra? :confused:

Gallas is not a left back... I don't care what Mourinho or Raymundo think. Putting Gallas on the left, even for stop gap situations means that you have to start a slappy like Boumsong in the middle. So your middle gets much weaker and you have Gallas playing out of position.

Abidal is just fine when he's healthy.

Silvestre is Silvestre. Just don't let him try to tackle anyone in the box during a big match.

Perhaps... But there was a considerable stretch of time where Raymundo didn't have either called up. Abidal was hurt, and his only "left back" was Gallas. Not good. Not good at all.
