Mahdavikia had to be subbed in Hamburgs game against Shalke 04.
Looks like he has a Knee injury. I does'nt look that serious because he could walk off the field. I hope it's not serious.

That's terrible news. First Karimi now Mehdi. Mehdi's our best player we need him for the WC.

I was relying on Mehdi and Karimi to carry Iran to the 2nd round because of their international experience...unfortunantly both of them are injured...BIG BIG HIT...
If Mahdavikia is gone...we can kiss world cup's 2nd round goodbye.

I wouldn't worry too much about it from what I saw. It looks quite minor, he wasn't even limping too bad when subbed off.

Guys, the injury doesn't look bad. He came back to the field and played a few more minutes before he was replaced. I bet he will start the next game.

I am serious, no other player in our history has ever been able to give what Daei does, and that's leadership. He is consistant day in and day out. You know what to expect of him. He still goes out, at 37, and does what his would-be replacements have not been able to do. Players like Enayati, Kazemian, Majidi, Borhani, etc. have not been able to contribute consistantly. They are hot one game, and cold the next 6. Even if any of the would-be replacement were as consistant as Daei, none of them bring the leadership that Daei does. Take a look at Daei's last 10 games (any game for that matter), he consistantly draws double coverage. None of the others have that effect, not even Hashemian.
1- Consistantly contributes
2- Leadership matched by none other
3- Draws defenders like no other
Believe me, I have heard all the arguments against Daei. There are those who want him out so their favorite player can replace Daei, there are those who think 37 is too old, there are those who don't believe the team needs a leader, there are those ____ (fill in the blank). But at the end of the day, it's Daei who gets double teamed, and no other. Ask yourself why?
