Ummm, you are a day late, that game was on the 11th. And your team won in overtime, so what's the big deal?
I was watching delayed coverage and I didn't appreciate the big clean-up job at 4am.

He (bestbecks) means the ice cream is too hard, or too frozen so that the taste is bland a bit.
I missed Milan-Inter, Barca-Villarreal and Man Utd-Sunderland, the Wizards keep losing, Taxes are due Monday, and ESPN decided to put on NFL Draft Previews instead of Barca-Milan....

Gum infection on one of my upper molars. Extremely painful, even Solpadol won't help with it fully and I am on the verge of looking for Valium. I have literally not been able to sleep for more than 3 hours each of the last two nights because the pain wakes me up. To add to my woes, my dentist won't be able to see me until Tuesday because of the bank holiday. Meanwhile, the amount of puss just grows, as does my headache. It's so bad that lying down on the other side of my face hurts. And when I say 'hurts' I don't mean in a bruised finger way... I mean in an indescribable way. Ever punch a wall 8-9 times just to get the attentio away from the pain? I've done it a few times in the last day or two. I'm losing my mind with this... it almost seems worth it to take the tooth out myself just to drain the puss & fluid. (Unfortunately?) I have to go the conventional way and wait for the antibiotics to reduce the swelling. I cannot close my mouth, or I wince in pain.

It also ruined Good Friday for me. I'm not sure if it's done in the States, but over here with Ireland being such a Catholic country it is illegal to serve or sell alcohol on Good Friday. With Ireland being a nation of alcoholics it's also one of the biggest piss-ups on the calendar... and I missed basically all of it (had a few beers and a game of football in the sun [in Ireland ] before having to retire home to painkillers) :(

Finally crawled out of bed to get some more water for soluble painkillers, and my face has swollen up likea peach on the left side. I am uncontrollably twitching with pain, and the painkillers are doing basically nothing :(. Thank God there's a pharmacist in the family - hopefully the flagyll (strong antibiotic) and valium that should be here by about 1.30pm will help.

Are you in LaLa-Land yet Billy? I was having dental problems a couple of months ago, I know how you feel. :(

All I was doing from about mid-day to 5pm was drifting off to sleep for about 30 minutes, waking up and getting quite volently sick, breaking into a cold sweat, then drifting back off to sleep and repeating again. I cannot tell you how horrible soluble tablets taste after coming BACK from your stomach. My stomach has steadied over the last 2 hours or so, though. I'm on three different types of prescription painkillers, two different anti-inflammatories, and taking a lot of Motilium (which basically relaxes the stomach). I'm feeling better, but have only taken two bites of a sandwich and a handful of Pringles (both of which my body promptly rejected) in the last 30 hours or so. Starving is notthe word, but that molar simply can NOT handle contact until the infection is gone, so solids are off the menu. Here's to a fried minced-beef sandwich for dinner!!
At least I'm on the up and up, though. :)

Ick, any kind of dental work like that is always bad. When you're stuck with that taste of blood in your mouth, you just don't want anything and it screws with your stomach to boot when you're swallowing blood.
Hopefully you get something that'll just knock you out for a while.

Anesthetics are by far the worst feeling thing in the world. No sleep, puking, but not puking; feeling like shit all the time; can't piss; can't shit; can't do anything.

The good news is that I don't think I need surgery, the infection is going down very quickly with all the anti-inflammatories and antibiotics I am taking and hopefully it will die out (the infection, not the nerve). I had surgery on the same tooth over the summer because a piece of the gum was growing inside the tooth rather than outside and was basically going to squash the nerve (apparently it's very rare, but can cause people to have seizures/fits with the pain). A while after that operation I got an infection and had to get my tooth crowned about 2 months ago... just seems the old infection flared up again. Luckily the auld fella is a GP and the auld one a pharmacist, so they know exactly what to take and are able to get their hands on it very easily.

I don't mind local anaesthetic (like when you're getting a filling or something), but general (the one that knocks you out) is f'n horrible. Only got it once (see above) but I must've swallowed a good half-pint of blood or so, during that operation. I felt really nautious (sp?) for a good 3 days after. Horrible.

Geez, sounds like if that tooth keeps getting infected, you might need a different dental surgeon. Then again I have no idea of the circumstances.
Also helps to keep the thing cleaned out after you do have surgery. I was kind of anal about that after my wisdom teeth were taken out, but the cavities healed well. I guess that's the key to recovering, or so I was told.

I think it was just a freak occurence that it flared back up. I used to have a different dentist, but he was awful (even his anaesthetic seemed to be kind of 'watered down' - I remember getting my first filling from him as an 11 year old like a nightmare). My current dentist who I have been going to for about 3 years is very good at what he does, it's just that the infection didn't get fully flushed out it seems... given that it took a good 2/3 months to come back strongly, it must have only been a speckle left somewhere. Or maybe it was an unrelated infection on the same tooth? Either way I'm pretty much over it by now, so all is good again.

Well, billy is probably going to the best dentist in Ireland. You just have to remember, it's Ireland...
