What do you think about the idea of having a subforum for NSR threads?
See the Crew boards for an example. They have their main team forum, plus the supporters clubs subforum and an NSR subforum.
NSR means "not soccer related" - e.g., movies, TV shows, music, random occurrences in your day, musing about the meaning of life, etc.
We currently have an example of an NSR thread:
OT/NSR: Random Discussion Thread (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=327604)
But that's sort of a generic, more-or-less catch-all NSR thread. If we had an NSR subforum, then various topics would probably end up with their own threads - e.g., a thread on American Idol, another on Lost, another on a cool band you saw last night, etc.
We also have an OT Astros thread and some other OT threads like Champcar and the Rose Bowl and Vince Young floating around.
OT means "off topic", but people usually don't mind so much seeing threads that aren't about their MLS club as long as it's still soccer. So, OT soccer threads could stay in the main forum or go to the NSR subforum, depending on what folks here would like.
Some people have complained about seeing non-soccer threads when they come to a soccer forum. Yes, people can avoid clicking on a topic that has NSR or OT in the title -- but we can respond to that issue and also do something constructive by setting up a subforum that allows people to really have fun with all sorts of NSR. It could be a win-win, as they say.
Of course, the NSR subforum still has to follow the BigSoccer TOS and Community Guidelines, just like everything else.
If you have ideas other than what's listed in the poll, then, obviously, we can discuss those, too - the poll options are to help generate discussion.
