Seen all the talk about tickets etc etc, and posted details of this in the swap thread already, but for those that dont venture into that thread check this out, it contains a press cutting about WC ticket swapping, how FIFA are not impressed, but how the fans have found a structured internet based way to fight back.

Could this be the way forward?

... how FIFA are not impressed...

Serves them right for putting up so many of the individual match tickets for sale a year ago back when no one even knew for sure who was going to qualify, much less what teams would be in individual games. I like how UEFA does the champions league final, in allocating 50% to the fans of the clubs participating, and selling less to the general public. Granted it's a different situation, and neutral fans should be accomodated as well (especially those from the host nation), but only 8% to the participating federations? Also, I have heard that some of the Feds don't even sell theirs to the public (Mexico apparently gave 100% of theirs to sponsors). This is outrageous, and FIFA should do something about it. I understand that VIPs will be getting their tickets, but it should limited, and FIFA could keep it under control.

I read the little blurb. Where's the press cutting, where is there any quote from FIFA, and how are fans "fighting back"?

A lot of crap on that page. Nobody got games they didn't want "..because the lottery was oversubscribed.." as suggested. They took a gamble knowing full well that they'd get a lesser game (they can hardly have thought F3 v F4 might be Brazil v Italy) and were disappointed with the outcome.

I think the odds of this "blogger" not having a direct link to the site he's advertising are pretty small.

But clearly topfan2006 is not connected in any way to that dodgy blogger or the ripoff site, as we can instantly tell by all the interesting and useful posts we've seen from topfan2006 in the past.

Errr yea ok this is a good idea but most of the listings there are as realistic as the swap board here...
ie:
have 4x ukr saudi want 4x holland argentina
have iran angola want japan croatia

to have a good swap you need to offer choices - after all more than 1 game can fit into your schedule

I have to say, I'm not quite as down on this as others. Sure, the blog and post are transparent advertising, and sure, it may be unrealistic to find a swap, but on the off chance that I did, I would gladly pay the fee to be able to swap for a game I was desperate to see.

This thread stinks to me, so I'm closing it unless someone can provide evidence that it's legit.
