GOAL!!!!
Livescore.com made a mistake. It must have been Hakan Yakin...
Hopp Schwiz!

I really like the recent trend of scoring the first goal. In the past we usually found ourselves a goal down, and many times that situation did not end well...

It must be Hakin, Murat was not supposed to play due to a knee injury. Not a major one, but enough to keep him out of the match.
SwissGCZ, are you just following on Livescore.com, or have you found another place to follow it?

Yeah, I'm following it on livescore - can't think of another place to follow it. It's too bad that the official SFV site still doesn't have a matchtracker for national team games...

2-0!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, what a first half. This is revenge pure...

Bernt Haas in the 29'
I really hope we pull out a win. It is the only game we've got to prepare ourselves for the Georgia game. A win would give the team confidence. They have to concentrate now, they blew a 2-0 lead in Slovenia before...

GOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!
3-0
Alex Frei in the 36'

Come on Switzerland! I have got to run, but I will check back later to see how the team has done. Bring on Georgia!!!

Goooooolllllllll!!!!
Wow! talk about pouring in on. Alexander Frei in the 36th minute!!!
2-0 is one thing, but 3-0 is much more difficult to come back from. I wish there was a way to listen/watch the Swiss games.

Switzerland 5
Slovenia 1
Wow.
Two more goals in the second half. One by Frei in the 76th and one by Ricardo Cabanas.
This will do some good in getting the confidence up for Georgia.

Another article: my translation
Switzerland: It is good for the moral!
Four months after the infinently important success in Ireland (1-2), the Swiss side perfectly handled its friendly match against Slovenia (1-5).
Hakan Yakin (2e), Haas (29e), Frei two goals (36e, 78e) and Cabanas (50e) permitted the Helviticans to celebrate a big success, although only a friendly, but still very important for the confidence in view of the qualfying match for Euro 2004 in Georgia, the 2 april. The Swiss proved that they know how to defend, attack and control the destiny of a meeting. A good result, but remember not to go to excess of euphoria. Georgia will (probatly) be another story.

Fantastic! I don't know the Swiss team as well as you two do (I'm becoming more familiar as we go thanks mainly to the two of you!) but I share in your excitement. Having lived virtually the first five year's of my life in Lausanne, I have been a lifelong fan of all things Swiss!
I've picked a great time to acquaint myself with Swiss soccer.

Amen and Amen. This is a great time to be a Swiss soccer fan. Lausanne is a pretty city. I lived for three months in Yverdon, Three months in Nyon and five in Meyrin (next to the Geneva Airport). What a beautiful country.

Wow, what a clear victory. No Slovenians to heckle on Bigsoccer? :D
It is especially impressive since the Swiss league players are still in the winter break. Alex Frei is becoming the new Kubilay Turkylmaz, scoring 9 goals in 15 games. Hopefully he can take that momentum to Rennes in the French league. It's too bad not more people saw the game - the attendance was only 1,500 (in a stadium with 3,000 capacity.) The team also made it clear that they are under no false illusions, and that the game against Georgia will be much more difficult.
PS: It looks like Slovenia's fairy tale is over. That was a pretty sad performance for a World Cup team...

Those are some funky unis that the Slovenian team has. Almost as bad as Jamica new ones. I really like the new Swiss ones. They are nice! Should look great when they play in Euro 2004!!!

From a paper in Switzerland about the match
- It was really cold and windy. The Swiss had the wind at their backs the first half and took advantage.
- They played a 4-3-2-1.
- Zuberbühler had a "remarkable" save in the 20th minute which helped keep the match at 1-0.
- Haas scored a header off a corner from H. Yakin
