We're going to need a couple experienced defenders for next year, so it wouldn't surprise me. What is the general thought about him around Parkhead?

I'd hang onto him, he's no worse than anybody else we have, in fact I cannot beleive we are getting rid of him, he seems to be happy to be reserve and I would have no hesitation in playing should we need to. He does some stupid tackles around the box mind you.

Sounds good to me. Losing Caldwell is going to be a difficult one for us. Shiels just signed an extension though, so that helps a bit. I think next year is going to be a rebuilding one, but with so many players on longer contracts now, I think things are looking up. We might not have Lithuanian billions, but it looks like responsible financial management is taking us to the right place. Now if we can only keep Mowbray for a little longer...
oops, I meant Shields has a new contract, not Shiels

Not sure about Caldwell to be honest, certainly think we can do better, is he better than Varga?.
Do you think you'll hang on to Mowbray? he must be attracting attention from teams down south, I can only see Hearts getting stronger next season, not that good for their Edinburgh rivals, they certainly done us yesterday.

I think Caldwell is making a mistake by leaving--and Celtic might be making a mistake as well--I think he is an excellent player, for Hibs. Somewhat like Murray leaving, he might be a little out of his depth for now. I think, at least I hope, that Mowbray will be around for another year. Unless he gets a pretty big amount of transfer money and improved training facilities within that time, he is gone soon after. Supposedly he has a little extra now for the summer, but I doubt it's more than a couple hundred thousand.

Timbhoy I have to aggree with you, I don't think Caldwell is much better than Varga and to be honest Caldwell terriable in Europe. I don't think he is the answer. I don't understand why GS has problems finding quality defense. We need to look outside the bowl that is the SPL.
