I wear glasses and don't wanna wear contacts. So I'm thinking about sports goggles when I play. I did a bit of research on Rec Specs Sports Goggles. Is anyone familiar with these? Other suggestions? Thanks.

Hi olckicker - I've used Recspecs sports goggles for about 5 years.

Pros - don't worry about contacts falling out, eye protection

Cons - It sometimes sucks when it's raining or excessively humid. Your specs cloud up and almost makes them worthless to wear. Now, this is only in extreme cases, but still, rain and humidity are specs worst enemy.

That said, I've heard there are solutions you can put on your specs that combat rain and humidity. I've not tried them so I can not comment.

Overall, I prefer specs to worrying about contacts falling out or, god forbid, wearing regular glasses. Besides looking a bit goofy, I think they are the best option.

Recspecs are pretty hardcore. when I was younger I was going to get them, but decided to get contacts instead.

strange that contacts falling out is mentioned. can't say I've ever had this happen while playing.

Why would you not want to wear contacts?! I had recspecs as a kid and I can say from experience that their only advantage over contact lenses is eye protection. Contacts are very inexpensive these days, so even if you lose them it is not a big deal to replace them and you can carry extras with you. I have never lost a contact during practice or a game and that is probably a thousand observations right there. I have never been pocked in the eye while playing, but I have been hit in the face with the ball a number of times. With recspecs on a blow to the face can be much more painful. . Contacts give you a full field of vision, dont fog up, fall off, or make you look like you just stepped off the short bus. Get contacts (assuming you dont have some eye condition that prevents you from wearing them)!

I wear (hard) contacts, and I don't have any problems except for the very few occasions when I get dust in my eyes. The worse your vision, the worse your peripheral vision will be with glasses.

You could try to get whatever Edgar Davids wears. He looks sweet in his glasses.

Pretty much right on. The only thing I would add is to try to get frames that don't cover your forehead (so you can head the ball).
