How do you think the OC is going to determine seating assignment?
A cat 1 ticket at the edge of cat 1 area will be as good as a cat 2 ticket and vise versa. So somebody might be lucky or unlucky depending on what they have. (Not factoring in the o.v. tickets).
Would the assignment be random? Would it be based on the phase the ticket was purchased on? Will it depend on the number of tickets per your application? Your country? Date of birth :D
I personally prefer if it's just the luck of the draw. It's easier and fairer. However, i just get the feeling that I will get not so good seats for my cat 1 tickets!
Any thoughts?

I had CAT I tickets waaaaaaaay in the back in 2002 at one match, others were within the first 8 rows.
My gut tells me if you live in Germany you'll get better seats than anyone else, but thats just my conspiracy theory :)

From my WC ticket confirmation email:

The exact seats will be allocated at a later date via an automated process. We ask you to appreciate that we cannot provide any information about seating, nor can we cater for individual wishes.

Some Cat 1 seats will be better than others.....luck of the draw....or conspiracy theory above re: Germans getting better seats. You'd think folks flying the furthest would get the better seats (he says from the US!)

So if the German theory is true. The cat 1 tix i bought will be not as good as the cat 1 tix my friend in germany bought. If thats true it will suck.

I don't buy the theory that Germans will get better seats. What is interesting to me is that most of the resale packages have already assigned rows and seats. Does anyone have more information what exactly obstructed view in the different categories means? I was under the assumption that ov in CAT-1 meant the tickets were close to the pitch but I bought some yesterday in row 3 that are not obstructed - so much for that theory.

My guess is that where possible, seats will be assigned to group fans of the same countries together. Remember when you applied for tickets to had to select which team you are a fan of? This is why, I'm guessing.

It all depends on how the stadiums do the charts your row 3 doesnt always mean the 3 row from the field. Some stadiums separate one major stand into multiple sections like 101 201 301 where row 3 in 201 is actually the 53rd row to the pitch and 301 is 106th row etc

i.e.:http://www.sportstravel.com/images/elements/313/Westfalenstadion_seating.gif

There are many sections and all of them will have a row 3

This is a very good point - I have seen a bunch of tickets come up on the resale site with row higher than 50 but I don't remember what stadiums they were for.

I thought we should talk about this more since we now know where our seats are.
My observation is that my orders from Phase 3 got me better seats than phase 4. All the cat 1 seats I got in phase 4 were at the corners; more like cat 2 tickets. I have one cat 2 ticket which is also at the corner; very similar to my other cat 1 tickets!!
What are your thoughts and observations?

All but one of my CAT II tickets are basically CAT III...right behind the net. Disappointing but better than nothing/nothing I can do about it.

I have a cat 4 coming from US Soccer. I'm afraid it will be out in Fan Fest big screen area :D
I think they are just being unfair. Probably most of the good cat 1 tix went to sponsors and most fan tickets are really "one cateogery" below.

From what I can tell, the Cat. III OV tickets in Berlin that I got are actually better than the Cat. III OV tickets tickets that I sold back for another game.

They are on opposite sides of the field, but the stadium is symetrical, so that's inconsequential. They're down low (which sucks when it's in a corner with a track around the field). The Cat. I seats on in row 1, Cat. III in row 6. If you're in a corner, you want to be a bit higher up if youre going to see the field, so the Cat. III seat are better, from what I can tell.
