"MLS said in a release Friday it planned a "major soccer announcement" on Monday at the Chicago Fire's stadium in suburban Bridgeview, which will open June 11 for a game against New England Revolution."
Is it too early for the MLS to be making an announcement related to the Philadelphia area getting an expansion team?
The article is about the MLS possibly getting Chelsea to play against the MLS all-stars during the season, but "a major soccer announcement" could be related to anything, so it could be an announcement related to expansion.

If they were making an announcement about a Philly area team, why would they make it in Bridgeview?
The announcement is Chelsea vs. MLS XI for the All-star game.....MAYBE A LONG SHOT would be the name of the Stadium, but don't read more into it than that.
Why would they have an annoucement about expanding to another city, in Chicago. This annoucement is to announce the MLS All Star game against Celsea which will be played in Chicago.

If the announcement was about Philadelphia, then that's where they'd have it. The announcement is about the Allstar game being at Bridgeview this year against (most likely) Chelsea.
Edit: One minute late...

Chelsea, that deal has supposedly been in the works since last season's successful game in DC.

I would rather watch a UMNT comprised of MLS based players play Chelsea. Too bad this would couldn't happe because of the Nike/Adidas thing. I've never been a fan of allstar games in any sport other than hockey (which most people think is the worse).
