DC United 1 :: 1 Charleston Battery
I believe we retain the Coffee Pot Cup with the draw.

We looked pretty good until Moreno and Gomez came out.
I don't think Freddy is going to make it to Germany.

That was not an overly impressive performance, though it was clear Nowak wanted to get everybody some time, and that made a great difference in United's ability to retain shape and fluidity.
Jaime looked pretty good--I think dropping some weight has helped a bit with his pace.

Freddy made some nice heel passes and decent corners but I agree no WC this time around.

Man, does our defense suck. We need some height in the back. BC has had, shall we say, better days. Simms must need to play more minutes because he was very tentative with his passes except for two thrusting ones.
No service from the flanks. But it probably wouldn't have mattered anyway, the way we were misjudging balls in the air.
Congratulations to Charleston, they look tough and well-coached.
It was so disappointing to see our guys let the ball bounce around without being cleared and then a bigger Battery guy sticks it in the net. Crap. Many, many laps tomorrow, please Coach.

I'm pissed that we're a week away from starting the season and can't beat a bunch of out-of-season A-leaguers. Our midfield play was horrid. We had zero ability to retain possession coming out of the back.

On the bright side, I was surprised with a few of the touches and decisions made by Dyachenko, he may turn out to be a useful role player.
Hope the CB player is not badly injured, I couldn't really tell what exactly happened.

I saw the Barra banner and I saw Vlad and Vlad's flag. Didn't hear anybody, however. Hope you guys have a good time at Three Lions.

That was a pretty poor performance from DCU. The midfield looks very weak. The forwards never saw the ball. Looks like they will have to play some Rt. 1 ball and bypass the midfield.
Who was playing on the right side of midfield in the first half? Seems that Prideaux and Simms were the only ones running the right sideline.
Erpen looked good, Boswell looked lost.
Moreno and Adu had to come back to the defenders to get touches on the ball.
Gomez and Filimeno were no where in sight in the first half.
Has Perkins hurt his leg?
Its a good thing DCU is playing NYRB next week. They sound like they are playing a lot worse than DCU. Hopefully, DCU is just pacing themselves so they don't peak before the playoffs.

DC's passing (especially first touch) was waaaay off. Generally, I thought CB was the better team, considering passing and possession. DC had a few moments, but I would have thought a week away from our season opener that we would have been the consistently better team. I don't think we were.

Battery looked sweet.... Ugo simply shut down the center of your park.
Shaky penalty call... Moreno's speed and momentum made the foul look much worse then it was.

Well, we had to stomp a lot to keep the feeling in our toes (from the cold). So wwe might as well make some noise in the process.
Nice thing about those aluminum bleachers, you can make a a lot of noise just giving em a good kick over and over again.
Hats off to the Battery. I have to say after seeing them and the Rhinos I have more respect for the USL.
All in all a tie is always better than a loss, esp a 3-0 loss :p
Question, who gets to keep the Coffeepot in the case of a tie...?

This result absolutely sucks!
We needed to win this game. I'm pissed with this result. We needed to finish with a result.

DC gets retains the Coffee Pot in the push. We went ahead and filled for you guys anyway.
Gore (the Battery central defender) broke his leg in the last play of the game. hes going to be out a couple months. he was in good spirits as he was strechered by E10 and the DC fans and kudos to your boys for giving him some love as he come off.
Battery D is tight this year. Our midfield looks good considering this is like 14 days of training. Some bad first touches and errant passes but nothing Im too worried about we are still trying out some players and I dont envy the Coaches job this season.
Thanks to all the DC fans that made it down we had a grand time and not sure if it came off on the broadcast but I could here them when our lot weren't singing.
And I hope someone record the match and can post a link to it here. I would love to see it from a different perspective.
more tomorrow....

That really sucks. I was really hoping that he was going to be okay. I hope he gets better sooner rather than later. Good luck to Charleston this year...unless we meet in the Open Cup.
