I have to admit it -- as kids shows go, I like the Wiggles. However, they have changed their format and as I was watching the Wiggles with my son this morning, it seems they stink now. It was boring! Under the older formats, my son was usually dancing around, now he was bored.

About 10 minutes of the show was taken up with a bad joke about painting the house.

What happened, the money went to their heads?

To us my best hipster phraseology:

Wiggles are sooo 2004. It's all about the DoodleBops these day!

Seriously, they turned from amusing to creepy when Anthony started going gray.

Maybe your son is growing up. My son who will be 5 in May was big into the Wiggles for about 18 months until about 6 months ago. Now he will have nothing to do with them "They're for babies" he told me the other day. The Wiggles have a very short shelf life in the life of a young kid!

No, he is 2 1/4. And he likes the older Wiggles shows. The new show just is boring. I think they ran out of ideas, and bmurphyfl, you are right about the graying thing.

I think it's safe to say that the music boards have now jumped the shark with the arrival of this topic. :D

I'd like to feed Dora to the sharks, that's for sure.

Don't let your children watch the wiggles or sponge bob. It's nothing more than liberal propaganda to promote their gay agenda.

haha just kidding

I feel your pain, but my almost 2 year old daughter counts to 10 in English and Spanish... (alright, forgive the proud dad for boasting).

Actually, that probably has less to do with Dora and more to do with her great daycare with bilingual assistants. (I do my best to rap in Spanish with her too.)

Never been a fan of the Wiggles. Fortunately, neither has my daughter.

Little Bear.

The only quality show, consistently loved by all three of my children. It's honestly got near-magical properties when it comes to soothing them down.

The Classical Baby specials on HBO are great. My 11 month old loves them and they aren't at all annoying.

The Little Einsteins aren't too bad, for a Disney show.

Jesus Christ, that song drives me up the wall. It's just so bleeding mind-explodinginly literal, "First we cut ba-na-nas..."

Shoot me.

That's my main complaint against the Wiggles -- who I've seen live, by the way. They are so incredibly banal. Their live show was at least manic enough to be diverting, but their songs are torture. My little girl enjoyed the show (we were invited along by a full-fledged Wiggles maniac) but is completely nonplussed by their music, thank god.

I have to say, though, there was girl behind us during the show, about 4 or 5, who I swear to god I thought was going to have a seizure she was so excited. It was like Beatle-mania. She would just routinely shreik " WIGGLES!!! " at steady intervals with a quivering, mania in her voice that bespoke an obsession I'd hate to have to manage.

Creepy.

Basically, the Wiggles are what the Beatles would have been if in 1964, they decided the real money was in the U-6 set.

The Little Einsteins aren't too bad, for a Disney show.

I have discovered a new way to drive my wife crazy -- I start singing "We are going on a trip on our favorite rocket ship . . ."

My older son likes this. The whole patting thing is cute, he gets very excited that he helps the ship take off.

"We NEED MORE POWER!"

My 5-year old daughter's favorite show is Kim Possible. And I must admit I enjoy it as well. It's not terrible.

As for the Wiggles, I have seen them live as well. I thank heavens everyday that she does not watch them anymore. Or the Doodlebops. Most of the time she says she wants to watch something, then goes off to another room to play while the tv is on, so I get to change the channel to FSC.

You know you're right. We're all horrible parents for letting our kids watch that evil thing. Do you have any more expert advice for us?

Another great Australian cultural export !!

My kids were huge Wiggles fans - back when they were pretty new.

I showed my age by knowing some of them from their pre-Wiggles days, in a 80's pop group called The Cockroaches.

Arent The Wiggles Austrailia's highest earning entertainers?
