Well, if money isn't an issue for you, than I suppose you may as well just keep the Under Armour ones, but I don't see the point in paying nearly double the amount of money on something that will essentially do exactly the same thing.
But I do think that these are nery important to have. I have some really cheap ones, and I wear them every time I play. I forgot to wear them ONCE, and I got such a huge cut from my sliding.

Why stop with just shorts?

:D
In all seriousness, I don't think the brands will really make that much of a difference. When I used to have a pair they were just really cheap ones from a supermarket or something and they did the trick.

I have the NikePro compression shorts and they are great. No more chafing for me! Just kidding. Nah they are great, I haven't tried the others and I didn't get them because they were Nike, I got them because they were the only ones I had access to. I have the Pro vest too.

I prefer my UnderArmour Heatgears to my Nike's, my Nike's ride up (mebe coz I got the shorter UA's that sit thigh high not knee length) and that annoys me.
Has anyone noticed how short the Nike Pro tops are cut? They barely sit at my waist when I put them on, then when I lift my arms they ride up over my belly, and I ain't particularly portly or tall!
My UA tops are much longer, generally more impressed with them than Nike's current lycra offerings.

Yes. YES. It is really annoying. I actually have a confession to make - I was cold this morning so I wore my Pro Vent top to work under my suit. It kicked ASS!!

I use the Under Armour compression shorts too....they're great. I haven't tried the Nike Pro line yet, but I hear good things!!
I must confess too, I've worn Under Armour Heat Gear tops under my regular clothes on hot days.....keeps you cool. Saved my life when I had to wear a tuxedo for my buddy's wedding on the hottest day of the year a couple years ago.

If the spandex is supposed to wick sweat (anything from Under Armour, Nike, etc.), then yes, it's absolutley useless, since the cotton from hi boxers will already have absorbed all of the sweat.

Not really. I wear mine because for alot of othe reasons in the winter it helps keep you warm. Also it protects you legs when you got into a slide.

Winter in Dallas must be a killer :p
But yeah, the shorts are also meant for when you slide.

it does defeat the purpose of wicking sweat away but if you wear them for support or if you dont feel like tearing away half the skin on your leg with one slide
