I have heard lots of different answers so i want to know what you guys think. Remember, it's not whether or not the players position in the England team demands running.

For me It's Frank Lampard. Every time i watch a game for him, he is constantly running non stop.

This is requiring a very tasteless joke.

But I'll allow Toon or another one of the brigade to crack it.

NB: I'll give you a clue, start a poll like this in England and they'll think you are a bit gay. ;)

superfat our fittest player? god help us.

anyway, this is all irrelevant as all our players are completely eclipsed by the outstanding physical conditioning of the USMNT, and in particular frankie hejduk, who is the fittest person on the planet.

Good job their best athletes don't play football. Otherwise no one else would be able to win a World Cup.

Look what the FA has to say about it:

"Initially appearing on the left of midfield, Canadian-born Hargreaves looks assured in a range of positions, including right-back. He’s played in both the World Cup and European Championship Finals and is renowned for being one of the quickest and fittest members of the squad."

So there's your answer.;)

You're not even the real Owen Hargreaves, and Englands fittest player? Peter Crouch recently won Britains third sexiest man in a poll of viewers of daytime ITV's "a load of feminest rug munchers sit around talking shite all day while the blokes are out ********ing working, flogging's too good for 'em" beating Becks into fourth! Crouchie all the way.

It used to be Beckham, but injuries and age have taken their toll. I remember reading an article about Rooney a while ago, in which they used the 'stat' machine to track all of his running during a match and calculated the total distance ran and seconds standing still, etc. Can't remember the exact figures, but it was pretty impressive.
