One would think this game would prove to be three more points for our European ambitions, but stranger things have happened in this game.

Reid puts Rovers up with what Radio Rovers are calling a goal of the year candidate. 1-0. :)

if it is, I can't wait to see the highlights.
It sounds like he took the ball on around halfway and went on a spectacular run before the finish.

Emerton's header falls victim to a great save by Davis.

Aside from the first five minutes, it seems that the ball has stayed in their half all game so far.

Friedel comes up with a great save on Brown after Tugay had given the ball away poorly.
We really should be up a couple of goals in this game, so letting them draw level like the almost did then would be a disgrace.

Well, I was going to watch that game after Rovers, but I guess that frees me up to go have a bit of a kick around. :)

Kuqi on for Bellamy.
Bellamy may have tweaked something....

The BBC commentary team seemed to think he was just taken off "for his own good" because he was getting a bit talkative and worked up.
Nice to see us not concede any goals--even if it is Sunderland. Seems like it's been a while. Level on points with Spurs who play Monday and above Arsenal whose game was rained off (so that Wenger could prepare for Milan--the pitch seemed fine  ).

That may have had as much to do with him coming off as anything.
This game was really typical of so many games Sunderland has played this season. Despite their record, they've really shown a good bit of fight this season. They're just overmatched at this level.

What a relief to win... While watching the games this morning (Liverpool V. Everton & Chelsea V. Manchester City) I kept thinking about our boys, and what a loss (or even a draw) today would be meaning to my social life -- there being no way I show my face in the pub until (perhaps) next season!! P-H-E-W!!!
Anyhow, I see that Mr. Stead got to play ~2/3 of the match. Was he his usual deadly predator self? Or, was it more like he was trying not to trip over the daisies?
Also, did anyone hear whether or not Sav made a road trip to see it?

We should all give a big thank-you to Middlesbrough today as well. Can't wait for the highlights of that one!
