Hi there
I am usually a left back, but will be playing upfront on sunday (i think it's partly the coach making a point, because he doesn't like me going up the wing when i play LB because i'm not that fast and i can't get back - even though the left winger covers me, he doesn't like it) any way...
So, i'll be playing upfront on sunday, and i really wana show the coach that i am some sort of asset when attacking, and to show him that he is a complete a$$ hole and doesn't know what he's talking about.
Any tips for me all you forwards out there? I'm not that fast, but i'm quite strong and quite good on the ball and i have a good and powerful shot...
hope this gives enough to go on, i just want some simple tips to make me look good (besides score :D)

don't mess around when you get a chance; decide where to put it, stay mechanically sound and get shots off quickly

Use your asets to your advantage, protect the ball well, make some fake moves, position yourself to take that powerful shot or lay the ball to another forward . Being fast is important but use the body strenght and powerful shot to your advantage. Good luck !

Right, as soccerfan said, use your assets to your own advantage. If this is strength as you say, work on getting the ball and holding it up, before laying it back to team-mates and making a run. If you're good in the air tell your strike partner (or wingers depending on how you play) to stick close to you and look for the flick-ons.
If you're very good on the ball it might be good for you to drop off the other striker (depending on what sort of player he is) and pick the ball up deeper. This will either draw their defenders out of position, or make their central midfielders think about you which will free up some of yours.
Above all just work hard and put yourself about. Your coach will like that. Good luck!

Master the offside line. Always know when the other team's back line has gone jagged and then put yourself in space to receive the ball and take off. Show for the ball and be sure to involve yourself on defense when you've got the energy and your team needs help.

Confidence! It's all abouut confidence, be confident in your ability. Your marking defender will feel it, will see it in your eyes, it will work in your favour. You will intimidate him without doing anything, but only by being there. If you see an opening, never EVER hesitate to take the shot. If you see an opening, never hesitate to make that run. Take risks, you must take a risk to score. And hustle, work hard. When the defence has the ball, run toward them, don't stop, you will put them in a hurry which in turn will force them to make mistakes.
DO NOT HESITATE!

Always keep moving when your team is on the attack!
A forward in constant motion is the hardest to mark. Even if you're slow, just keep making making runs. You will eventually get free. Get your rest when the ball is far from you. When you are attacking, keep moving and like already said...once you get your chances...take them as quickly as you can while still hitting your shot cleanly.
One more thing. In the box, a first time shot, struck solidly toward a corner almost always scores. You don't have to blast everything, but you do need to try to keep the ball down. Just a good stroke and solid contact with accuracy is enough unless you're shooting from distance.
Good luck!

Hi all!
just thought i would give you an update of the game...
I played up there today, and i didnt score, but i set up about 3 goals with nice little balls over the top to my strike partner - i held the ball up and created space for the other players, although i didnt score, i did get told how well i played and also that i may be used up there again :D
