Oh well, looks like my GFI was in vain. Playing #1 and all hopes of promotion into the premier league depend on me winning. Getting absolutely smoked by Crowe.

End of Over 32: 195-1, runrate=6.09
Nobel 6-0-35-0
Crowe* 112 (90 balls)
Carden 53 (73 balls)

my strong/wonderful spinner just gave up back to back 4s to the #11 batsmen for the other team.

Bot stomp. But this one was more relevant. Compared to how I performed against them earlier in the season, I gave up half as many runs (87) in about 16 fewer overs and had my first two batsmen eclipse their run total after 13.5 overs. Also my top bowler had 3 maidens and five wickets by the time they had 18 runs.

A i i e e e e e e ! ! ! !

Kiss of death. Had a horrible at bat! My opponent is now batting. Don't think my 153 will hold unless my bowlers are on fire. Geez.

My buttwhopping continues...
End of Over 45: 289-2, runrate=6.42
Calcutt 8-1-48-0
Whelan* 9 (8 balls)
Crowe 163 (131 balls)

dont think I've ever been abused by one batsman quite so badly before.

The only good news is that this guy has given up 330 before this season so anything under 350 is gettable if my boy Owens gets a big hundred.

End of Over 50: 331-2, runrate=6.62
Coutts 10-0-87-1
Crowe* 187 (147 balls)
Whelan 27 (22 balls)

Atleast I didn't give up a double century, but this is makeable, just barely... will take an amazing effort though. I've got 3 batsmen who have got to score well if I'm to get this total.

My bowlers were getting hammered early, but they really came on strong from about the 25th over on, and the target we're chasing is a makeable 247-10. I was particularly impressed with the performance from 40 on, as we only gave up about 50.

Owens 26 (24 balls)Just got to this thread. I admit, I thought 331-2 was going to be enough. Now, it's a freaking chainsaw fight.

You and your flat pitch! Me and my semi-pro bowlers!

LOL! I figured the flat pitch would give me the best chance as I figured I'd have no chance to stop Crowe... I gave defensive orders to most of my bowlers and still gave up 331. Looks like it will be a great finish from here though.

End of Over 25: 166-1, runrate=6.64, reqrunrate=6.64 (331-2)

Yeah, send this puppy straight to ESPN Classic. I think we're going to the 50th over with white knuckles.

EDIT - obviously, I GFI'd, and perhaps unwisely kept my bowlers pinned to attacking, thinking with the adrenaline I'd get some wickets. Not so much.

Beat a bot in 16.5 overs! Bowled them out in 13 and put up 35 in 3.5. :D

What does attacking mean for bowlers? Aiming for the wicket more or something? Maybe like a pitcher going more for strikeouts than pop-ups and grounders?

WTF is up with my idiot batsmen? With only one wicket conceded, the morons are still under 4.0 RR. The strike rate is abysmal right now.

What does attacking mean for bowlers? Aiming for the wicket more or something? Maybe like a pitcher going more for strikeouts than pop-ups and grounders? That's what I assumed it meant. Setting for "attacking" in a one-day context is probably hella stupid, but most of my bowlers are "attacking" players, and I'm guessing the game engine punishes those who try to make players play against their better skills to some extent. Like asking Bob Gibson to throw knuckleballs, or something.

Kinda like that, but defensively means just trying to make it hard for the guy to score. Attacking would mean going for the stumps too, but also trying to get the wicket by bowling the ball in an enticing manner, tempting him to attack. Its more likely to get wickets, but more likely to concede runs too...

and Dan... yeah... definitely classic material, I GFI'd as well

End of Over 41: 265-2, runrate=6.46, reqrunrate=7.44 (331-2)
Christopher 6-0-28-1
Owens* 125 (102 balls)
Goldbourne 37 (52 balls)

this is going to be one hell of a finish... I want Goldbourne to get out... he's slowing things down too much. Jackson is going to really belt the ball around when he comes in... guaranteed.

OK, Seargeant is in now, and if you're interested in an exciting finish, my match may go that way. The crew is attempting to mount an improbable comeback. Actually, I should say that Seargeant is attempting to mount an improbable comeback, as he singlehandedly put the total back within reach with fifteen runs in the 44th over.
