Murstein, although much maligned by KC fans, is a passionate young rich guy who wants to be very pro-active and build a winner.
If he is indeed the investor, it could be a great thing.

....or he could be MLS's version of Dan Snyder. (Just wanted to present the glass half empty point of view)

I am under the impression that he really wants a NY CITY team (as in in Manhattan or Long Island) and wanted to buy the Cosmos name last year.

Well, yes. But I also remember articles in the KC situation that indicated that he wanted anything. Any sports team whatsoever. And South Jersey is a lot closer to his home than KC. So this might just be a reasonable fit.
Interesting.

They are part of the geographical land mass, but having spent 18 too-long years of my life growing up in Suffolk County "Long Island" is Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Leaving Queens and entering Nassau is mental barrier to most city dwellers.

Murstein must be steaming about the Red Bulls' Cosmos Extreme Makeover of the former MetroStars. Currrent rumor now is that RB might can the Harrison stadium project and either stay at Meadowlands or maybe move to NYC!
