any one knows what reason united gave for dropping Shawn Kuykendal from the development program after he's played every single minutes of the reserve team last season?

I'm not sure. Could be one of a couple of scenarios:

1) they had seen enough and one of the new guys had more upside/chance to make the senior squad

2) mutual consent. Kuykendal could probably make more in USL and get playing time besides the reserves.

There was some speculation that he had contacts in Europe through his father (Switzerland? Sweden?), but I've heard nothing. And I, too, was surprised at his being dropped, since he seemed to be a standout on the reserves. I think his undoing was the fact that he seemed to be competing directly with B. Carroll, Olsen and Simms, and wasn't likely to crack into the lineup.

he difnitely needs first team soccer/regular minutes. He'll probably drop down a division or try his luck in lower ranks of Europe.
